  1. Getting SO/OTL won’t be enough in the long run but they’ve strung together a solid 5 game stretch

  2. Not sorokins fault someone needs to find twine

  3. rolltribe

Just an overall shit effort all around tonight outside of Sorokin. Happy with the point I guess but that was painful to watch

  4. do you have a goals against over 3? is your save percentage in the 800s? do you need a win to help your career? play the isles! they’ll get you the win you desperately need!

  5. Warriior91

Dude wtf lol all the chances in the world in OT and then those pathetic shootout attempts

  6. Add this to the list of games they owe Sorokin an apology for

  7. IslesDynasty79-83

what does Sorokin need to make 80 saves to get any goal support. that shootout was putrid

  8. DrTurtles

Dobby had another monster game despite being on the brink of death from exhaustion. Very impressive stuff from him. Also another masterclass from Ilya.

Sloppy game as a whole team. Despite barely grabbing 3 wins in a row, this team this has major problems that Lane Lambert cannot answer.

I feel like Sorokin was the only one who tried tonight. Honestly feel like he deserves a much better team.

I hate that the home team shoots first in the shootouts.

I liked the adjustment of Bo and Wally being in the top 2 but then they both missed.

    Rest up boys.

  11. ArchieInABunker

I’d like to see Holmstrom on the shootout one day

Isles play hockey like it’s 1976. 19 SOGs. Nothing of substance in a SO. The ineptitude of offense of this team is astounding. At least Lou likes the team.

  13. Mrenato83

As soon as I saw this goalie I knew it. Not putting Nelson in the top 3 is the dumbest fucking thing to do in the shootout. Lane continues to make baffling decisions

  14. Academic-Brush-7797

I’m just disillusioned by extra time at this point. Fleeting entertainment for a glorified skills competition that’s a coin flip at best and actually historically favors the worse team at worst.

  15. How the FUCK was Nelson not used in the first three? Lane should be fired on that decision alone lol

  16. toledosurprised

we’re so bad in shootouts. very sad.

  17. this is a scheduled loss, glad to get a point out of it

  18. kevinw1526

Yea we didn’t win but I’m very happy with a point, especially with how we played that entire game.

Two things stood out to me tonight:

    1. They clearly had a game plan to focus on their own end and keep the play to the outside. Makes sense given the D injuries, and execution was decent on it. But you need to capitalize on your chances if that’s how you’re going to play.

    2. The scouting report on the goalie was shoot short side, and they followed it to a fault. Every clean look they had went blocker side even if he was pressed against the post. Most of them missed the net as well.

  20. I hate shootouts

    Always have

    Always will

*even when we had the Danish Backhand of Death*

Just… be a tie. Its ok.

  21. ImmortalBehemoth

Clutter should have shot with the silver stick. Would have gone straight through the goalies chest.

  22. lazyblogger914

Devils, Canes, Panthers next week. Gotta rest up bc the legs were jello today. Big week. Hope Mike Reily can add something.

  23. robertc555

Sorokin is at least, the Islanders 3rd greatest goaltender after Billy Smith & Chico Resch.

  24. Why can’t Horvat hit the net up close as an Islander? Did they play with a bigger goal in Vancouver or did his optometrist diagnose him as being farsighted recently? Wtf?

  25. Golden_Lafayette

Annoying loss considering the fact that Horvat & Holmstrom had chances to win it at the end but to be honest I ain’t too mad with the one point considering it’s a back to back. Should’ve won the game either way though but they have a crucial stretch of games coming up that they need to win.

  26. Golden_Lafayette

By the way, Holmstrom (most of the team as well) need to work on finishing their shots at the net. We generate opportunities but they matter none if we can’t finish at the net or can’t capitalize off breakaways.

When it went to OT my instant thought was “well we got a point” and instantly expected an L…we are so bad in OT
