  1. Could you do Pat LaFontaine to the Buffalo Sabres from the New York Islanders and then Pat LaFontaine from the Buffalo Sabres to the New York Rangers and how's that ended up being Andrew f*** Peters

  2. Wonder if the NHL will retire Justin Williams Jersey number with Philadelphia Flyers or Carolina Hurricanes, since he was draft 2000 by Philadelphia Flyers

  3. so essentially, the Kings traded #17 and #28 for #13 and a 2009 3rd rounder……WHY???

Not that I'm complaining, becuase I am still stoked about the 2012 and 2014 Cups in 2020, but why?

  4. NBA trade rule: Never Trade with The Celtics.
NHL trade rule: Trade with Leafs, even if it's a last round draft pick
NFL trade rule: Pick the Right Bill, the one from Texans. Not the one from New England.

  5. Still waiting for the Pavel Bure to Florida trade tree which I'm starting to think that Steve Dangle IS AFRAID OF DOING.

  6. Hey … only because I would be interested to see how the pieces worked out in both these trades involving the Penguins … The 2003 draft day trade with Florida that allowed the Pens to draft Marc-Andre Fleury … and the 1991 trade when the Pens acquired Ron Francis and Ulf Samuellson that directly led to back to back Stanley Cup titles.

  7. You forgot the entire fiasco with Dumoulin with him being traded to Pittsburgh in 2012.
Also do that Jordan Staal trade tree

  8. If it hasn't been done already, the Joe Nieuwendyk for Jarome Iginla trade tree might yield some fun stories.

  9. Yup, Mike had a great first year with the Flames and then they don’t resign him so they had room to pick up Jay Bouwmeester. What a missed opportunity… Michael Cammalleri was poised to be the face of the franchise. I also love how The Flames would repeatedly let talent slip through our fingers only to bring them back when most of their magic was gone.

  10. Need to do pre trade tree on the Jeff Carter deal. He came from a pick that came from Phoenix that came from Langkow that came from Gratton that was an offer sheet. If you count all the draft picks philly traded to get back it gets even crazier. Simon Gagne, Justin Williams, Rick Tocchet, Adam Oates & Mikael Renberg are all part of this trade tree that eventually leads to Carter and then coots and Voracek

  11. The flaky crown fortunately marry because sagittarius corroboratively thank in a tremendous speedboat. wealthy, stupendous dragonfly

  12. Steve: I don't understand why teams swap picks in the same round in different years. (Calgary giving up 2009 2nd, for LA's 2008 2nd)
Also Steve: the 2008 draft class was stacked.

  13. Now there is shame in the Chicago Blackhawks' dynasty between 2010 and 2015, and that was having a sex predator for a video coach. Chicago drafted a guy named Kyle Beach 11th overall in 2008. Didn't play a single game in the NHL, and the reason was because of said video coach assaulting him and at least one other player, and giving them flashes of PTSD from the experience. What did Chicago do? Nothing besides giving said video coach letters of recommendation, which eventually led to him assaulting a high school student.

  14. Good job, Steve; A few years back, I had tackled a couple of those trades-out of curiosity-to see which of them translated in to players who ended up on the Kings in 2012 and 2014. Although we tend to become glib as years go by and we forget what was what, I really was surprised at how well the Kings' management team had done in both dumping and acquiring players leading up to their successes. I mean, Patrick O'Sullivan came with some built in issues and Mike Camalleri had an incredibly high opinion of himself and wanted a huge increase on his salary. The Kings' team had to make some serious decisions or get reamed over time. For me, I believe my interests came after Andreas Athenasieu was traded. He was a speedster who owned the breakaway. It reminded me of another who had that gift, but he played for our team for only one year. As with Terri Sawchuk, I played the "what if" game. If Terri had been able to remain with the Kings, might he have lived a longer life? And the same thing went for…our earlier speedster, Pavel Bure…and he was traded in the Patrick O'Sullivan deal with Minnesota. I admit that second guessing is a pretty hollow way to follow/be addicted to a sport, but I just couldn't help myself. Anyway, I like your show because, contrary to the thinking of many, some of these trades are mind-bending, complicated amd can even be overwhelming, esp. regarding all those draft picks. But as I delved in to some of those deals, I actually gained more respect for management teams throughout the league. I mean, how in the world do they keep up with all that stuff? And with guys like you and me, someone is always gonna uncover how such dealing turned out…and sometimes, the results were real rat turds. Anyway, thanks for sharing an interesting set of deals. Note: the brunt of a lifetime of Kings' deals, prior to the Anshutz Co. buying the team are/were a nightmare of mismanagement, a disaster of player treatment and a complete and total letdown to Kings' fans…beginning with the trade of our top line in the early '70's, then trading Terry Harper & Dan Maloney to Detroit (that trade involved an entire system change) & then giving Butch Goring a lifetime contract/trading him to the N.Y. Islanders and I stop at the Gretzky deal-for money/and creating a fan base, not winning a Stanley Cup…hey "Can't Buy Me Love"…p.s. sometimes, certain players find their mark on only one team…but that team removes them for reasons unknown?
