  1. I watched the conference. Davidson said the players don’t know what happened. Something happened between Perry and personnel. The team was made aware of the situation in Columbus and Perry was removed from the game immediately

    Edit: typo

  2. ericsipi

Another reporter did ask if police were involved and KD has said multiple times is an internal matter. So we know it’s nothing like sleeping with another players mom or legal issues but not much beyond that.

At this point anyone speculating or guessing what the issue is is total scum.

  3. Redredworm88

Davidson was on the verge of tears, man wtf happened??

  4. Kit_Shriek

I’m just going to say it. This is pure speculation on my part. But based on the way they’re being so tightlipped about it makes it sound like it’s another sexual thing. There’s a very « oh fuck not again » air to this. And saying it doesn’t involve players or their families, but he didn’t say anything about the broader Blackhawks organization? Maybe someone who works for the Hawks? I feel gross speculating to be honest but that’s my impression.

  5. Presser made me think he said some racial slur to a Hawk’s employee. Still just speculation

  6. NopeNotUmaThurman

I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but this sounds terrible.

  7. vichyswazz

this is the most confusing thing ever. they just held a press conference with the main detail being that they won’t be sharing details.

NDAs or not, it’s going to come out. everything always does.

  8. kornylol

Davidson describing the last 24 hours as “disturbing” was what stood out to me the most.

  9. Pacman2933

The Bedards should be able to sue the person who started that outlandish rumour

  10. Beaver_Tuxedo

Not a lot of info in the presser. They’re being very tight lipped. I like the assurance that it does not involve any player or their relatives, but the way he skirted around being asked if it involved staff makes me think Corey had an unsavory interaction with a member of the hawks staff. The fact that there was no law enforcement involvement makes me hopeful that it’s not something terrible

  11. nameless22

Best guess is he got into a physical altercation with a coach or other team personnel behind the scenes.

  12. I feel worst for the Bedards. I can’t imagine how mentally disturbing it is for an 18 year old and his family to see stupid jokes about Mrs. Bedard sleeping with Corey Perry.

  13. Funky-Donuts

So, he wouldn’t provide details because it’s a personal issue for Perry, but then he said it’s also a workplace incident? Don’t these statements contradict each other…?

  14. That was kinda tough to watch. He seemed pretty shaken up about it.

  15. Heiserwulf

This drives me nuts… Every comment I read is oh I thought they were to be transparent.. Why aren’t they telling us.. Hawks deserve to lose a pick… It’s laughable, they arent transparent about this because IT’S NOT ANYBODYs BUSINESS, other then the people involved.. God people are so righteous that they need to know everything about everyone so the can judge accordingly.

  16. alinkinthatoldchain

Next time let’s not create gross rumors about the face of our organization! With fans like these who needs haters?

  17. Cardinalfan89

Man just tell us what it is gonna come out eventually anyways

  18. Altruistic-Leader-81

    Connor’s eating calamari tonight

  19. Gabenash

Blackhawks: we are going to be so transparent going forward, because given the past, we want to show how we’ve changed!

Blackhawks press conference: we came here today to tell you absolutely nothing. But look how emotional I am about the thing that happened that I won’t talk about.

I’ve lost respect for Davidson today. I’m sure I’ll get down voted for this, but they needed to say more than what they did. A simple, « He had a verbal/physical altercation with someone involved in the org, and we have a zero tolerance for that within our company. » would have done a lot to quell the rumor mill, but this effectively did nothing. As a long time fan, trying to defend this billion dollar business is getting old.

Can we go back to hating Corey Perry again?

  21. ChicagoingToSleep

Well it didn’t take long for Perry to get himself hated in Chicago again. So long, jackass.

  22. devilhasatwin

I’m worried it involves Caley. Actually I’m more than a little worried.

  23. kane-train-88

Was Perry involved in child sacrifices? Prove he didn’t

  24. WookieSuave

I’ve been saying for years that Perry looks like the type of dude that still goes to high school parties.

    …coincidence?

  25. TooSketchy94

This reads as one of 2 scenarios to me

    1. Blatant sexual harassment and/or assault that was absolutely inappropriate but not technically illegal

    2. He said or did something hateful but not technically illegal. Could have been antisemitic, islamophobic, homophobic, racist, etc. etc.

Both things can be done in horrific ways without being illegal – so no police involvement but taken very seriously within an organization.

Obviously unknown if against a woman or a man. It was REPORTED to the team while on the road. Doesn’t say the incident happened on the road. Means it could be ANYONE involved on staff. Could’ve been their social media manager. An intern. Anyone, really. To me it reads more like the individual does NOT travel with the team. Seems as though they waited until the team was on a road trip to report the incident (fear of repercussions and or safety, possibly?).

My gut says it was number 1. Some version of sexual harassment or assault. I think we all heard and read the same stuff about Corey. That he was great for the locker room and a leader. These are just things we hear. The people in the organization and on the team itself are experiencing this “great guy” Corey. That’s what makes whatever he did, so much worse. It’s such a betrayal, it hits even harder. Attacking someone, especially someone vulnerable, is awful and an absolute character destroyer. It’s impossible to look at someone the same again. This in addition to how personal this type of thing is to the Hawks org at this particular time in history, would definitely explain KDs demeanor during the press conference.

I want to be clear, doing something hateful (#2) is also awful and a betrayal of its own right but I personally feel like something sexual in nature is a different thing on its own. I recognize this is likely because I am a woman with a bias of being even more sensitive about sexual harassment / assault.

Obviously – I don’t know. This is just my gut / limited insight. I’ve dealt with both these issues in work places and these types of statements by KD are what all admin uses for these types of things.

I’m proud to be a Hawks fan today. They were alerted about an incident and took swift action. They did so against a household hockey name and did it while protecting the victims privacy. It doesn’t make up for the past but it does make me hopeful for the future.

  26. RockoIs1337

Whatever happened Hawks are comfortable in making this decision and are basically saying « you got the ball now, Corey. Do what you wish ».

It’s a waiting game and lawyers are gonna have a field day with this one.

  27. rockyrococo999

I was just thinking…KD is not at the top of the food chain in the organIzation.

Where was Danny W? Jaime Faulkner? She’s pres of business ops with a « passion » for analytics.

I wonder why the let KD out there hanging?

  28. Coolhandluke1026

TMZ will get to the bottom of this.
