  1. Leaf went into the year with a suspect defense, now it has bitten them good.3 down, and no real answers on the Marlies…Leafs do have some depth at forward on the Marlies though, so giving up a forward or two might not hurt them that much. The idiot prior GM, really screwed up cap situation putting the Leafs in a bad situation, too much cap space on too few players, all forwards, all soft, one has to go, i would include Rielly but he is essential now, they have no D who can run the PP except for him.

  2. Until they focus on building a solid D core… it'll be same ol leafs year in and year out. Moving someone like Mitch Marner and adding some quality D men would turn them around… I'd say hopefully they never do it… but it's the Leafs… they won't.. they'll probably add more speed that doesn't play D.

  3. They won last night??? I could have sworn they lost in a shootout. I think I turned the TV off too early, lol. Go Leafs.

  4. I read today more trade rumors with leafs and Ducks. the leafs send Marshall Rifai and special 3rd round pick in 2025 and 4th round pick in 2025 and 7th round pick in 2024 the leafs have 2 7th round pick in 2024 which one is a question mark to Ducks to bring back Liya Lyubushkin at 1.75m aav for last year of liya Lyubushkin's contract and Ducks eat 1m in cap hit and Sam Carrick and if liya Lyubushkin resign at end of the season the 3rd round pick would become 2nd round pick in 2026 if true or not we will see?

  5. Why is no one talking about Weegar from Calgary? He's on a great deal long-term and would give us a solid defender on the back end. We could be looking at a blockbuster scenario there with Calgary to poach their defense. We need to stop making it seem like Timmins is a good defender along with Benoit etc. we might have to overpay and nothing is coming in for free

  6. Even if Tre manages to get 2 big physical Dmen this core is going nowhere in the playoffs. The Leafs will get eaten alive by hungrier hard-working teams like Boston and Florida. I'd rather them wait and not rush a trade instead of getting fleeced by Calgary for prospects and draft picks.

  7. Dubas had a chance to sign ZADOR / TANEV for pennies on the dollar when they were UFA's
…. i was screaming at that time …. to sign them
Dubas put his faith in Sandin / Lilly …. how is this guy a great hockey mind ????

  8. Trade Mitch to get a few good D men at $5.5 Million each. Mitch will move if he is told he is no longer welcome. He might even win a few cups like Kessel did & bring them back to Toronto?

  9. The leafs are hurting, easier said than done to make a trade. All teams know the leafs need defence and we dont need to pull the trigger just to make a trade. If we do we will pay dearly for it.

  10. I bet My 1 Valuable Copper Penny that the Leafs go for a Soft Defensemen that doesn't know how to use the Boards to keep Control of the Puck in the Offensive Zone and They also NEVER Shoot the Puck into the Crease so the Forward can bang it in.
