All I can say is the guy is like he was in the 22 playoffs again skating wise. You could tell he was banged up all season last year. This is the val that justifies his contract (probably exceeds it by a fair bit honestly) and impacts both ends of the ice while giving that edge to his sklineages. mates.

Landeskog was a fixer, meaning whatever line you put him on he elevated and sealed it together. This version of Val is the same way.

Nice article, but now everyone will always go back the hotel incident when anyone refers to him. Understandable but it will always taint him.

Just compare his situation to Girard’s. The latter was open, honest, vulnerable, and transparent. That earned him grace and respect from the fan base—even to the point of some chiding those who rode him too hard. Given the point in the season, he could’ve covered it up, and nobody would’ve been the wiser. But his handling of his situation has earned him my lifelong admiration.

Compare that to Nuke. Bailing on his team in the playoffs. And, I’m sorry, but in pro sports your team does include the fan base, those people who shell out bucks for playoff tix and devote part of their lives to rooting for you. And then to come back this fall and pretend that you’d already discussed it? No.

Look I’ll always cheer when Val scores a goal for the Avs. But I think he’s a coward and I’ve lost a ton of respect for him as a human being. If he ever leaves, he’s not the Kadri or Jeff Green kind of dude I’ll always root for.
