Possibly unlikely with the way the D is structured, but I hope he forces them to keep him on the roster for good.
What does this mean.
Smith might be suspended
He’s gotta play. Smith back to winger or in the scratch suite. Although Bahl and Siegenthaler have been kind of ass too, so maybe they get a game

Will gladly trade off the dougie clap bomb so we can play some resemblance of defense for a few games.
Assuming Smith gets fined and not suspended, where does Nemec fit? Do they sit Smith, does he move back to wing? I’m excited to Nemec play, but not sure how they plan on making space. Hopefully this doesn’t mean Dougie is out long term.

Think it’s important to remember here that we’re replacing one of our most veteran players with one of our freshest in a position that already severely lacks veteran presence.
Nemec was a beast in preseason and is definitely going to be one of our go-to guys pretty soon, and I’m delighted that he’s getting more big league looks again. I just want to keep a healthy expectation that he’s not going to necessarily be able to fill Dougies shoes immediately, even if Dougie hasn’t been terribly good for us so far.
This could mean:
* Nemec as insurance in case Smith is suspended
* Nemec on D, Smith up front for Laberge
* Nico is unavailable after being shaken up, Nemec on D, Smith up front for Nico
* Luke is unavailable, Nemec in for Luke and QBin the PP
* Some combination of any or all of those, plus Timo might be back,

I’m excited to see Nemec get his chance, but Dougie is a huge loss. Huge.
Still nervous about two rookies on defense, one of them likely paired with Smith when he comes back (unless they send Nemec back?)
