@Lightning de Tampa Bay

  1. If I remember right, the idea with bringing in Glendening was to get a defensive forward who could win face offs. Sheary was the guy that supposed to be the bottom six guy that would’ve been the reliable goal scorer, but he’s been a flop with the low scoring and his injury.

    He’s a 4th line guy I don’t see the issue

    Meh he’s a fourth liner that plays a very specific role. He isn’t here to score goals, he’s here to win faceoffs and kill penalties. The PK is much better this year than it was before.

    What we really need to concerned about are the guys making more substantial money but not producing much to their AAV on the scoresheet. Looking at Cirelli, Paul, Sheary, Jeannot, etc.

    Glendening has not been the problem for depth. Likewise, someone like Koepke is a decent fill who has contributed somewhat. A lot of the secondary scoring we lost in Palat, Killorn, Colton, Gourde, Coleman, Johnson, it all adds up. So I agree that reliable depth is something TB is lacking right now.

    We simply don’t have much offensive threat outside of Hagel, Point, Kucherov, Hedman, and sometimes Stamkos. Stamkos hasn’t felt like a 5v5 driving player this season, Paul is streaky, Eyssimont has done well in at least creating chances. Cirelli has unfortunately been a black hole on offence which really aggravates his cap hit, Sheary has been injured (and hasn’t looked very good in the time he has been here), and Jeannot is average.

    If you had to pin the blame on anything in particular these last few games, it’d be on shot attempts that hit the net and burying chances when they come. But over the entire season, mentally, they don’t seem to have a response for going down or being tied. It seems like past iterations TB would punch back hard if they gave up a goal or lead, but this year they have seemed to just maintain the same pace or intensity.

    He’s just there to win faceoffs. I personally think he’s doing quite well.

    Dude he’s a 4th line guy. He’s not expected to be putting up huge points numbers. Could he be more efficient? Yes. But there’s a reason he’s on the 4th line

    I mean, he’s no Corey Perry, but I’m not complaining

  8. He does two things well and our team is better for what he does. PK and Faceoffs.

    Like others said, Cirelli and others aren’t living up to their worth. That’s more worrisome.

    I think Glendening was brought in to replace PEB as the face-off/penalty kill guy. I feel Glendening has done well in this role so far this season.

  10. Big_ole_mudpie

    Yeah like others have said he definitely isn’t here to produce. But at the same time the graphic they showed the other night was pretty telling. It was something like our top 7 forwards have 137 pts and our bottom 6 only have 33

    it’s been said but yeah Glendening isn’t really here to be the next Kucherov for 800k. He’s a really cheap face-off winning guy that only gets deployed in specific situations. If anyone should get flak for their performance it’s Cirelli, Sheary, Paul, those guys. There’s just some guys who are limited by their line roles that could definitely be performing better.

    Glendening isn’t the issue. He’s great on faceoffs and is very noticeable on the PK. Like others have said, I’m more worried or Cirelli or Sheary’s production. Most of our acquisitions have been fine, but they can certainly do better
