When the Sabres run 11-7 they play the top forward line a little more and use E. Johnson less. Also, we should wary of randomness as that sample size is tiny.

As someone who was unbothered by the 11-7, it’s good to see numbers that show it isn’t as concerning as the some vocal critics made it sound. I seem to recall reading an article about a couple of teams using it (on purpose!) a few seasons ago to good results. I think Carolina was one… blanking on the other.

I don’t think the problem people have is with the 11-7 itself – it’s the reasoning behind it.
They ran 11-7 because RJ was playing so well and they don’t want to admit EJ has Been their 7th best defenseman (maybe 8th? Shout out 3-0 Jacob Bryson)
So instead of benching a player not performing well, they used an 11-7 to keep him in the lineup.
If you’re running 11-7 because you have 7 Rasmus Dahlins on defense that’s one thing. But to run 11-7 to keep EJ/Clifton active is what’s questionable.
