Jake Allen will not be an Oiler
Allen is inconsistent and not reliable, we need a playoff goalie. Montembault is the much better option.
I don't think we should target Allen. Montembault if available especially with that solid extension should be the guy.
Jake Allen (33 years old): $3,850,000 per year, Montembeault (27 years old): $1,000,000 this year and $3,150,000 for 3 years after that (just signed recently so probably no chance on this), Cayden Primeau (24 years old): $890,000 this year and next but sorry, they probably want him to team with Montembeault. Sorry but Montembeault and Primeau between them don't have 100 NHL games. Allen has some record BUT he's Older than either Campbell OR Picard. We want GOOD but someone we can have for a few more years without paying a ton. Also, candidly, to get they have to take Campbell. That's a non-starter and I don't know of a lot of people who want to take that on. We'll see. Take care all.

Blackwood in sj ..good goalies on bad teams that go unnoticed another is Gibson in anh. Much like luongo on the panthers to the Canucks a decade ago.
I think Monty's the guy the Oilers should get. He just signed to a fair contract and is just coming into his prime. He'll cost a lot more than Allen but worth it if the Oilers want to have a chance to win before the McDavid window shuts.
Straight swap Campbell for Allen would be ok with me but the problem is Bouchard. Oil needs a better defender and move Bouchard back to the 3rd pairing like last year before trading Barrie. Bouchard has the bomb and Barrie had good puck moving skills but both lack defence.

Is the price too high for Vejmelka and/or Ingram?
I would go for Boone Jenner and a right shot dman from Columbus. Keep Pickard for now because he's better than Campbell.
Goalies wasn't the issue. Don't make a trade!
Don't forget, Habs play with 4 regular D man out and 4 of their current guys are kids on entry level contract. Allen's numbers would be much better with a more established D core. Keep in mind, Allen is not a no1, just a good back up. As a Habs fan, I say you can have him and I hope he help get the Oilers in the playoffs.
Ceci I think is the most underperforming Oilers D, he’s expendable. Question is who wants him? Would probably have to throw in Broberg to sweeten the deal.
If I was edmonton management I would be knocking on saros,swayman,Gibson heck even would call in on Blackwood imo Allen isn't the fix Montreal plays solid defensive hockey Edmonton doesn't same situation with Cambell he played on a better Toronto team that had way better defence than oilers this would set them back like the cambell singing imo
For the love of all that's good don't make more dumb trades. Jake Allen is towards the end of his career. That will not improve the Oilers unless they fix their defense as well.

Habs fan here. They'll trade Allen. No way they stay with 3 goalies. Allen is a competitor and I believe is a decent enough upgrade over Skinner/Campbell. And can probably be gotten for peanuts. I think Monty is the perfect fit for the Habs right now. Coming into his own as a #1 and at the perfect age to tow the line until the Habs' 2-3 excellent goalie prospects make a bid. If I were Edmonton, I'd try and make a pkg deal with the Habs and try and get one of our stay at home D of which we have some pretty goods ones. And maybe even consider grabbing Monahan. A player who can help them by chipping in offensively, but most importantly, impacting their defensive game. Excellent 2-way guy. Excellent at faceoffs and a very solid penalty-killer. He'd have an immediate impact on Edm's overall defense. Just my 2 bits.

I prefer Merzlikins. So do a lot of the Oilers players, apparently, according to Stauffer and Seravalli.

You know who else had a save % north of .900 before they joined the Oilers? Jack Campbell. Come to think about it if you look back at all the Oilers tendies, they have ALL had pretty good GAA/Save% before they played for the Oilers, and some of them shortly after their numbers went back up. What good is trading for Jake Allen if he comes over and his stats all drop significantly because of the defense in front of him?

A legitimate D man is worth more then a second string goalie, the number 1 issue is what’s in front of the crease right now! Once they nail down the system that Kris has brought then we can look at an upgrade! There was a definite glimmer of hope in the Jets game, hopefully they can continue to develop!
Vejmelka is the goaltender they need they will over pay for anything at this point
G, all these experts against Jake Allen, but guess what? He won a stanley cup. He is a "stanley cup" goalie. Oilers can win the cup with Jake.

Furthermore, Evander Kane should be on the top line with McDavid, every game, every shift, for protection. No more cheap shots on McDavid. McDavid needs to be respected. McDavid-Kane-Hyman, Draisytl-Nuge-Fogle, and stop mixing the lines up
