They definitely got better on paper. I am also worried about chemistry moving forward. Love Lehner as number 1 and hof Fleury as backup. My biggest concern is playing against Colorado and Blues. Blues and Vegas always play hard long games. And Colorado has Vegas number. Also call me crazy but I don’t think we(Vegas) win a Stanley cup until and they name a captain.

2017-2018 VGK not only had killer instinct, but also fast as hell. The speed is the biggest thing they lost.
I think one factor you omitted when breaking down last year's stats was how much they improved when DeBoer came in, particularly in the PK. The VGK were treading water before that, so a full season of PDB might make a positive difference.

The whole "We are the guys no one else wanted" thing was such bullshit. They were gifted such a beneficial drafting method its no wonder they succeeded so early. It was BLINDINGLY obvious to anyone paying attention that the NHL intentionally gave them all the help they could to help them do well as soon as possible for financial reasons. The players on the first team were not players other teams didn't want. What a load of nonsense. Anyone with a pea-sized brain would be able to comprehend that the teams were forced into only saving a select few players and teams had to make difficult choices as who put at risk. Almost all the players on that OG team were wanted players. Great example is Schmidt. The Capitals would've LOVED to have kept him, but they couldn't because they were forced into putting players on the block.
This team, as well as Seattle, need to EARN the respect and EARN their success. They need to go through the struggles of being at the bottom and having no success for a while and having to work their asses off to build a team the normal way.
Vegas is probably the biggest threat to Colorado running away with the division title.
