I was at the game where Carlsson scored the hat-trick against the Flyers, and you could feel it coming from a mile away. He has immense talent, and his chemistry with McTavish and Myntiukov is quite clear.
If you're looking at "point total" you don't understand rookie years.

Hawks fan, but love to see how these other guys are doing. Fantili looked great when hawks played Columbus. Everyone was saying this draft was really deep.
He's pretty overrated
Matthew Knies is playing like he's been in the NHL for years. He may not have the skills of Bedard but he's one of the best of the rookies this year. However, he doesn't come off as a rookie, due to his level of maturity.

Leo has been the fresh of breath air at the Blue Line that the Ducks have needed desperately. Especially since Manson got traded.
I know you can't talk about every rookie, but Evangelista has been very impressive as well.
Not to take away from Bedard, but the NHL does NOT know how to market their players/faces of the franchise. McDavid didn't even get this and I'm an Edmonton fan who SERACHED for this sort of stuff.

Carlsson is unreal. I questioned the Ducks taking him but he’s blown me away. Fantilli has been good too and I think he’s on a worse team, but basically Carlsson is playing more how I expected Fantilli to look and Fantilli is looking more how I expected Carlsson to look. Carlsson has effortless poise and confidence
About time people talk abaout carlsson also being under rookie control or something not playing every other game

This rookie year has been incredible to watch. While i am a Blackhawks fan i really have liked what i have seen with so many of the others. One thing that i see that is a huge difference between Bedard and the rest is he is doing this all with zero help. When the only true NHL star on the hawks would be Taylor Hall and he is out for the season this really shows that Bedard is still on another level. If Bedard had gone to someone like the duck or jackets who have some great talent already i think his number would be twice what they are. Chicago just doesn't have other guys who can finish. Look at Logan Cooley. I love this dude he is amazing but the Yotes have some talent with other guys and Cooley is getting most of his points from assists from guys who can finish. With Hall going down i expect them to be dead last again but with Hall and Perry they were looking like they might be 5th-10th worse since those two incidents they look worse then the sharks. I know many haters of the hawks would say no to this but I wouldn't' mind getting a second #1 pick:) in 2024.

If it wasn’t for Bedard, this would be one of the most interesting Calder races of all time. It still is, he still could get passed. It’s just that good of a prospect talent pool
