And 16 of those teams made the playoffs every year and the whole thing was a frickin’ HOOT.

Fuck the Red Wings.

I thought this was my timeline when I was a kid. But then I saw Colorado Rockies. Wtf.
MartyCool403
The Colorado *Rockies* ? What the hell is that?
Yumhotdogstock
I loved the Leafs being in the Norris division.
There were always some epic battles in the playoffs and the regular season, and the contrasts in uniforms made it great (red/white/blue/green).
Aegis_1984
This has to be from the 1981-1982 season. The Rockies still weren’t the Devils, the divisions were realigned, and the Flames had already relocated from Atlanta.

I remember playing the Hawks, North Stars, Blues and Leafs a lot. For the life of me I can’t remember playing the Jets in the Norris …
Edit: Just looked it up. They were only in the division for 1 year … 1981. Thought I was losing my mind.

Was this on felt?

My memories of chicago stadium are stogies and cussing. I never left that building without feeling 10 years older as a kid.

Excuse my ignorance, what was the origin of the division names?
themarsboy
If I’m not mistaken, this is the back cover of a sticker book.

I really miss the old division names. It made hockey different.
Chicagoblew
Good ole Chuck Norris division
guywhois0nline
North Stars logo is still my all time favorite NHL logo.
Wild logo is beautiful but it’s very busy compared to the clean N with the star.

The good old days when Detroit and Toronto were in the Western conference were they belonged.

So many confused younger fans on this thread. It’s adorable.

I miss the Norris, so much

A few years before I started watching hockey. The division names were the same. Good times.

Not for me. I’m a Rangers fan.

Now Hartford, the whale…hell they only beat Vancouver once…maybe twice in a lifetime.
kovacro_77
Loved the old Wales and Campbell All-Star jerseys. Free wheeling hockey back then. Good times!
My brother had a friend he went to HS with who played for the Rockies and then the Devils when they moved.
eyeeatmyownshit
I had this pencil case minus Colorado!
ANATABAKANA
whyd they make the blackhawks badge a white fella?
PhilG1989
Seems odd to that they would have Buffalo and Toronto in two different divisions
MiloGoesToTheFatFarm
I was so faked out by this and ready to call bullshit because I didn’t realize that Colorado had a team before 1995. But indeed it was I who was the fraud the whole time.
JiffTheJester
You don’t have memories of this time lmao you’re just farming karma
