It’s not terrible that we’re playing pretty bad and still at .500. So long as this is a slump, we’re golden.
We kinda have to win tonight to keep .500, I don’t see how we’re gonna beat the Florida teams in our condition. The Panthers are on a heater and Vasilevsky is starting to find his stride again so it’s gonna be hard to beat those teams
I mean… if this team wants to break its three biggest faults and habits these next 3 games are the best litmus test.
Three biggest issues that I see are:
Consistently winning at the rate of a successful playoff calibre team would – roughly winning 3/5 to 2/3 games.
Our defence panics and makes poor plays when the forecheck is bearing down on them against the boards. All 3 of Carolina, Florida and Tampa are very good relentless forecheckers. Its going to be sink or swim here
And finally – actually beating high level teams consistently. We have not played like a playoff team against teams we could see in the playoff (excluding Edmonton, who’s a tire fire and may not make the playoffs)
All of 3 games happen in a span of 6 days. If that happened on the road, we’d be hooped, but these are all home games. We need to use that to our advantage.
These next 3 games are some of the hardest that we’re going to play this entire season.
Carolina hasn’t had a great season, but their style of play has really punished us over the last couple years.
Tampa and Florida are legit contenders from the east as well.
We’re going to see what we’re really made of in these next few games.
The boys are just in a festive spirit. They’re keeping with the red and green Christmas theme
Another thing I’m seeing is all the wins are Vs non playoff teams. Both playoff teams beat the nucks

This is a 500 team. Not sure what we’re really expecting here
we could just stay doing this and id be fine with it but, most of our losses are only by one and we’ve never really been blown out or felt like we weren’t in it aside from like 2 games.
Good teams don’t lose two in a row I guess?
We are going to see a pissed off Hurricanes team come out tonight. Even Tocchet hasn’t been that rough on the Canucks in the media.
