Low risk, high reward potential here, I like it

  2. Josh Yohe just tweeted “could spell bad news for the Bryan Rust injury situation” and now my heart sank

Edit: per HCMS, Rust is *still* being evaluated and they’re hoping they’ll know more in the next couple days.

This has basically been the company line for 5 days now? So this seems like it’ll be pretty bad if it is taking this long to get a prognosis on what exactly he has/needs done for recovery/how long he’ll be out.

Aka I’d say Yohe isn’t just throwing shit at the wall here.

  3. Let’s be honest, the bottom 6 hasn’t turned out as planned. This is the type of low risk move you make to try to fix it.

Literally nothing to lose and there’s simply no way that he’s worse than others on the team whose name might rhyme with Bleff Farter.

  5. Ecruteak-vagrant

Low risk with an insanely high upside. He won’t score a ton but will score more than every bottom six winger. The real value is he tilts the ice on the forecheck. Think a Kappo Kakko type player. The big caveat is how his body holds up after the surgery, but this is the type of bargain bin shopping I can get behind.

  6. Well, better than all of the call ups. Hopefully he is motivated

  7. Low risk, high reward, and I’ll consider it a win if he actually plays like he’s trying to prove himself and not just exist.

Better then anyone else in the bottom 6, I like the size, good move nothing to lose, I mean Johnstone & Gruden were out there last night so I’m sure we can find a spot for Jesse

Haven’t called up Pitlick. Puusty only got.. one game? It really seems like the wheels are falling off in Pittsburgh. I’m someone that is always high on FA signings thinking that coming to Pittsburgh will bring the best out of players. I watched Jesse Puljujarvi’s stint in Carolina and I already know this isn’t going to work out. If he doesn’t respond to a coach that is known for getting the best out of all of his players then I don’t see him coming into a struggling locker room and succeeding.

Edit: just want to add I really like the player. just not confident a sinking team that’s falling further and further out of contention is going to be somewhere where he can be his best self. this is more desperate than firing your head coach, imo.

Cool did they fire the whole coaching staff

  11. Does he like the net front? I see us adding more size which could help this team

  12. Balsamic_jizz

I’m an Oilers fan, watched him for a few years and he puts in 100% effort, grinds out but doesn’t check, might go net front but doesn’t really fight for it, shoots but not very well. You’ll love him if he plays for you, but he’ll frustrate you to no end. I hope he turns it up a notch with you and ends up finding a role.

  13. jaconkin423

Meh, not the news I wanted to hear, doesn’t solve the problem of shit system that the team keeps trying to play.

  14. _nopucksgiven

I like it. I was hoping they brought him in during camp on a pto, big bodied power forward that’s low risk high reward

  15. JimmyPineapple_

Plot twist: he’s the next head coach.

  16. goodcanadianbot97

Low risk and high reward for you guys if he ever gets going, which I don’t think he will.

He has the skill set, but doesn’t know how to put it together. His hockey sense is shit, his ability to move the puck and make quick decisions sucks and in the offensive zone it seems as if he [panics](https://x.com/shanec06/status/1619544473410891778?s=46)

    He sucks boys and girls

Way to go, Dubas! As soon as I saw the news about Pool Party, I was hoping we’d give him a shot. We desperately need to bolster the RW position with Rakell out long term and now maybe Rust long term as well. I’m sure people will cry about Puljujarvi’s numbers, but I’ll just re-post something I wrote about him before the ’22-’23 season when I hoped we’d trade for him.

*And finally, the third option: RFA Jesse Puljujarvi. Puljujarvi is a 24 year old, 6’4″ 200lb winger who has played for Edmonton for the past 5 seasons. Puljujarvi has struggled to light the lamp despite playing consistently with McDavid, Draisaitl and Nugent-Hopkins. So why is he worthy of being on this list? Simple: those aforementioned players’ numbers were significantly higher when they were on the ice with Puljujarvi. McDavid’s P/60 was .5 higher with Puljujarvi than without him, Draisaitl’s P/60 was .7 higher, and RNH’s P/60 was a whopping 2.1 higher. Simply put, Puljujarvi struggled to put the puck in the net himself, but the team put the puck in the net more often when he was on the ice. Puljujarvi isn’t as physical as Marchment but he’s no slouch, logging 81 hits in 65 games, and he also received Selke votes after logging 27 takeaways to 18 giveaways. Bacon’s WAR model values Puljujarvi at .98 OWAR and .30 DWAR.*

Rust’s situation looks really dire. Still being evaluated? Might be done for the year.

the dude has size, speed, puck handling, a ginormous tongue…..

    and….

Hands made 100% of concrete. As an oilers fan, I rooted for him bigtime, dude just can’t score.

  20. Solid_Snake420

Decent pickup if they actually sign him

  21. bloodyREDburger

Dubas really likes giving out tryouts huh?

  22. Slight-Possession879

POOL PARTY damn i forgot about this dude. Wasn’t he good?
