I criticized Allvin and co early on, but to almost completely rebuild the defense in a year and a half is not something I thought would be doable. Big Allvin W on this deal.

All you guys who say Conroy got fleeced will be eating your words after you see the ridiculous passes and plays zadorov makes at times that cost you goals and games. If he was truely as good as everyone is making him out to be he never would have been dealt out of Colorado.

Let's be real, Allvin & Rutherford are the trade masters. I know Canucks fans wanted Tanev but I bet you would have been unhappy with the price tag. Zadorov is a beast & knows how to HIT. I'm excited to have him on the Canucks. His 1st game will be Saturday vs the Flames!

I am still very skeptical about this move. He requests a trade from Calgary > Calgary is now hot, Canucks are now struggling and he's coming to a team in which he wanted to get away from when he was going through with that in Calgary. Canucks are still doing OK but if the team continues to go down the L column, I can't imagine him feeling all too great about being here when his old team is now on a small heater.
Either way, your argument is sound and Canucks got him for pennies and risk is low but I am more concerned about chemistry and locker room drama with someone who quickly asked to get moved the moment things go south and us fans in Vancouver know it can go south very quickly regardless of how well the season has gone so far.
Just my thoughts on this.

Zadorov become a free trial this year for the Canucks at the very least barring an extension to replace Myers.
Also, He has never been a top 4 defensemen. I think Vancouver got a 5-6 defensemen that is big and will fight. The big and will fight part is great, the 5-6 defensemen is just that. Media in Calgary always says it's an adventure when he steps on the ice, and it really is. After 4 or 5 give aways Vancouver fans may realize his limitations. The size part and the fighting part is great though. Calgary got much needed cap space and has already called up Solovyov, a player they are very high on. The cap space can not be under valued. I think a 5-6 defensemen is worth a 3rd round pick. Win – Win if you ask me.

So I’m a lifelong Canucks fan and there is no love lost for the Flames… but I don’t agree that this is a loss for the Flames considering the situation.
I think Conroy did pretty well getting 2 draft picks and avoiding retaining salary… salary cap is gold in todays NHL
