Surprised about a 9 million aav for Morgan? Look what the other D signed for above that… look at Ceci…. as Leafs fans we see through some kind of filter where players are perceived differently 🤔

  2. So, we just going to be happy about how theyre a good bang for their buck in the regular season? We need playoff performers!

  3. Lol best …. I would say the worst most incomplete team in the NHL. Ok ok not the worst but seriously they are build all wrong….. Dom is wrong , his model is bias .. nobody cares About regular season. First round exit at a value 🙄. Best contract the leafs have is spetz or Morgan , maybe throw Campbell in there but that’s still not proven

  4. First off, I was at game five sitting in the Golds right at the goal line when Stevie Thomas stormed down the wing and scored in overtime. My favourite leaf memory ever.

A lot of interesting stuff this week but with respect to the model you guys referred to throughout the podcast – any model that ranks Mikheyev as one of the Leafs’ top contracts just doesn’t pass my eye test. 🤣🤣

  5. Dom's model really doesn't appreciate defensive play enough, that's why Armia isn't rated well but when he's not there our PK was just not the same in the playoffs.

Anderson is a hitter, he leads the team in checks (138) above Romanov's (137).

Byron is overpaid but he's good on a shutdown line.

all 3 have the same quality though : clutch goals in the playoffs

  6. I honestly see the leafs taking a step back this year. I mean you just had a heart transplant with Hyman leaving. You will see how important this man was in that room.

  7. the problem with the Leafs is that they are not brutal enough for this model… Keep the top four O, top 2 defence, top goalie and rest young hungry players…would mean for me, acquire draft picks, trade out running out contracts and replace with cheaper options.. ie Rielly out and get good entry level defenceman who works up from third pairing, and a top round picks…keep feeding the beast with young players…

  8. If you look at what the other defensemen got during FA, getting David savard for 3.5×4 was a steal for the habs 🤣

  9. mathews is a real bad deal , you pay him mcdavid money and he isnt half the player and will probably never carry a team or hit 100 points in his career

  10. So his model has the Oilers at 13th, even WORSE than what they ACTUALLY finished in the past 2 seasons – a team filled with young stars just hitting their primes so only getting better, they added depth guys to absolutely make the team deeper, AND they have a plethora of legitimate top prospects ready to make the jump and on leauge min contacts.
    Yeah….
That makes alot of sense! Aha get out of town with your dumb nonsense.

  11. Thanks for the laugh.
No top 6 left wingers. Weak bottom 6 forwards and 3rd pairing defensmen. Mediocre goaltending at best and absolutely no depth to replace any of the top 4 forwards or top 4 defence if they are injured.
    What was the question again?

  12. Can’t wait to see them crash and burn again! With out a doubt this documentary will win an Academy award, for best comedy of course.

  13. FYI a portion of OEL's contract was retained by ARI. I think he'll rebound but what do I know. go canucks lol (I'm a huge Leafs fan)

  14. Thanks for the Laugh of the Day. A team which can't even afford to re-sign Zach Hyman …? Put on the Leaf uniform and fans treat you as a God, until they run you out of town.

  15. If Toronto had the tax rates of Edmonton, they could of afforded Zack Hyman's contract. If the Leaf best players wanted their $4-5 net profit, with Tampa Bay's taxes… Dubas only gives them $8 million. Of course Toronto isn't the best built team in the NHL. You'd need salary cap parity for that to happen. But they're the best built team for Toronto and the Ontario tax-rates they suffer with.
