They did score on powerplay though!
Florida was allowed to play this way through the playoffs last year. They got away with all kinds of dirty stuff. Screw them.
Strange… Cousins being a p4ssy. Some things never change. Guy will always be a coward. He plays hockey but is not a hockey player.
Crazy how this was 2 minute penalty but ryan strome got 5+5+10 for a unfortunate outcome to a legal hit. (Before u bust ur balls. Connor tried avoiding the hit and it made it worse)
This entire weekend was full of disgusting hits. There were 4 plays like this around the league, because of course Evander Kane had one, and 3rd/4th line basement dweller Mathieu Joseph punched a star player in the back of the head. However, this one really takes the cake for levels of gross at how dangerous it was.
Checking from behind and boarding are both separate infractions, and both of them occurred here. When I played youth, even as high as Bantam Triple A hockey this was a 5 minute major, and almost always a game. The NHL has egg on its face for how much the "Instigator rule" has broken the ability for players to play safe, as this would have started a line brawl, and is the same kind of hit that triggered a massive rivalry, and bloodbath(Detroit/Colorado).
It feels cliche to say that reffing has been terrible this season but damn, reffing has been terrible this season.
Good on Gudbranson for taking care of things. That was a dangerous hit and Cousins deserved what he got.
Speaking of the refs losing the game. Earlier in the game a ref checked Sillinger hard blocking a clear breakaway. Some of the worst reffing ever.
Not fighting back should be a 10 minute major for being a pussy
Honestly, I absolve Gudbranson. Hopefully cousins learned a lesson but I doubt it
That hit could be a ejection at the least in my opinion maybe even a suspension
It wasn't all that long ago … guys just never retrieved pucks along the boards in a way like that where you were susceptible to getting hit in that manner.
Bro 5 min major no hesitation on this one, plus game misconduct so no retaliation possible and give 5 minutes roughing plus game misconduct for fighting plus instigator, like you need to balance every thing out so no team is penalized
This cousins guy is a real turtle.
Cousins should have stood up and taking an beating, hell Reinhart is not a fighter and he has dropped the gloves.
I highly doubt we've seen the last of Gubrandson going after Cousins. And we shouldn't since the refs and league aren't going to do what they need to. NHL refs suck a$$.
Cousins ,💪👍🔥
Don't care about "turtling" or whatever. The fighting is pointless garbage anyway. But that hit from Cousins should've been an immediate ejection. There's a bit too much wishy-washing with what is and isn't considered "clean". I think anything dangerous with a head into the boards like that needs to be an immediate game for whoever through the hit. Get rid of anyone who retaliates like this as well. We don't need any of this crap in the game.
i don't like the idea of a penalty not being assessed because and injury did not occur when you have a dangerous paly like that. That's a 5 minute boarding and if he gets the 5 minutes it's likely that Gubbranson doesn't go after him like that…although maybe not. He looked like he had decided and there's tape of him telling the coach taht he's going after him. As for Couzins, not answering the bell after a dirty hit is giving Marchandesque energy.
Looks like Tkachuk is giving fighting lessons to the Panthers.
It was a clean hit though.
NHL refs have been ridicules when it comes to boarding calls. Some times its a minor. Some times there is no call. Some times it is a major but reduced to a minor. Some times it is a major and a game misconduct. You might think that it depends on the situation, but if you look at Oilers and Jets (I believe it was in that game) with Kane boarding a Jets player in the same fashion as Cousins, you would think he would get a penalty, but no, he got nothing. Sabres Robinson received a match penalty for his hit on Habs Barron. I understand the safety reasons to remove such hits, and as a Sabres fan I feel Robinson's hit deserved a match penalty. What I don't understand is how the refs are so mixed on the issue. If a player hits another player in the numbers that causes that player to hit the boards, match penalty no questions asked go straight to the locker room.
Will you make a video like this regarding the Evander Kane hit on Brodin into the boards similar to this hit.
Gross hit by Cozens
I don’t get why gur didn’t brace for the hit. I know he had to make the play but back in the old days if you had some one coming in on you who cares about the puck brace and make the play. Nhl is to soft and to many people make such a big deal about people getting hurt they chose to play the game they could have been anything else it’s the chance you take to make millions to literally play a game. Dirt bikers brake necks die but that’s the sport they aren’t going to stop doing back flips because it makes the sport safer just stop
the refs are a fkin joke
The Florida panthers are becoming the most toxic team. Whenever any team plays them I’m just waiti g for them to send someone to the hospital and they actually get permanently banned from the league
File this under, play stupid games, win stupid prizes…
