  1. So this whole thing with landeskog was basically the stamkos situation all over again. You’d think they would’ve resigned grubauer too.

  2. Landy's game isn't going to age well. Years 5-8 (possibly beforehand), this contract is gonna be painful to the Avs. However, it's a good price for years 1-4. Avs cup window is now, while MacK's contract is the biggest steal in the NHL.

It's a guarantee that some other GM would have paid $8.5m+ (only over 7 years, of course) for his services – so he has given a (very) small dollar discount to stay. So, Sakic had little choice except to give into his, unreasonable, demand for the 8th year.

All respect to Landy. He's a professional athlete, wanting to make the most he can from his last big contract. He played chicken with the Avs, and it was Sakic who blinked first and paid up.

  3. People flip real quick. Landy became a story with free agency and now people say he's not the captain to win em a cup, but a few weeks ago you ask those same people and they'd say hes one of the best leaders league wide

  4. I'm a big Avs fan, and Gabe is my captain. Would've been heartbreaking if he left Colorado. Glad to see his heart was always in it for the Avs.
