  1. Sadly Palat/gourde/johnson all have no trade claus's, So its very unlikely a player will leave and make less money with a worse team.

  2. Shattenkirk very well might take a super team friendly deal as he is still being paid from NY as part of his buyout.

  3. if Tampa had a choice i feel they will move a guy like mcdonagh teams like Edmonton could be a potential landing spot for him or maybe the ducks

  4. Tampa's biggest problem is that unbelievably stupid trade my god where they gave up a 1st round pick for Barclay Goodrow the management and scouting office of Tampa must have been on some crazy amounts of acid when they came up with this trade

  5. A note on the tax difference, Texas is the same with lower taxes and you don't see the stars getting players for significantly cheaper. Same with Vegas. Heck don't even have to compare states with no income tax. Compare the panthers with Tampa. Panthers don't get players for discounts and it's the same state. It's a poor argument tbh. They take discounts because of the franchise and it's atmosphere, location and management. Not because Florida has no income tax.

  6. Yzerman was a magician, but giving role players NTC clauses? That hurts this team so much. Even 7D like Coburn has NTC.

  7. The issue is that Palat, Johnson and Gourde all have NTC through at least this year and next. Unless they want to get moved, they will be staying. On the other hand, Killorn's contract changes to a Modified NTC for 2020-21 where he submits a 16 team no trade list. He is probably most likely to go, even though he has been the best of the 4.

  8. Look at this point I'm so hockey deprived I don't care if we lose to Boston just let us play.

  9. They have defenseman Foote. I think they wanted him to have this year then try him with TB this coming year.

  10. In order to make Cap Space, i'll go for Gourde and Johnson out of town, Palat give to the team a good Two Way forward

  11. So the problem with the taxes argument is Tampa is not the only team that has that. You don't see it happen in Florida or Dallas etc.

  12. So as a Tampa fan, I want to jump in and add a few things. So, completely agree with your best contract. Hedman is worlds better than people realize. The last few years he is pairing with BORDERLINE 7th dmen and making them look good. But, I disagree with your worst contract. Gourde isn't scoring this year (in large part because of the role he is in), but he is noticeable every night. Tyler Johnson has been absolutely terrible this year (and the past few years). He has not been anywhere close to good enough for a top 6 spot, and brings nothing to the bottom 6.

Sergachev is a key lockup. My guess is he's looking at more of a bridge deal (Tampa loves those for players). Probably the same for Cirelli.

Your question of is it Yzerman is a great one a lot of fans have. My understanding is Briesbois has been the contract guy for Yzerman. And the head scout (Al Murray) is matched by absolutely nobody. So the question is how will they be at putting all their knowledge together.

SOOOO…. About next year. Most Tampa fans think Killorn is gone. He has good stats this year (though he is so streaky, if you look at his production in game logs it tells a much different story), but he is replaceable, and his NTC becomes modified this offseason. As you mentioned, Volkov is really primed to come up having been the last cut the last couple years (and he is on of the guys that makes Al Murray just look smarter than everyone else, but I digress). He is an incredibly responsible 2 way player with a much better shot. Even though the Killorn contract is not terrible right now, it's too much if Volkov comes up considering Killorn will slot well down the depth chart. I think TJ would be another one to move out if they could, but the NTC are going to be difficult to work with (and he could be saved for Seattle). I would also throw a guess that Cedric Paquette is sent packing with Goodrow now here. On defense, Foote will probably come up (as well as Masin if they buy Coburn out), and then you either leave those two as a pair on your third pair (they play a lot in Syracuse together) with a Hedman/Sergachev nightmare top pair for other teams to deal with, or you use Hedman as a shelter like he has been the past few years. Barre-Boulet, we will see where he goes. Guy has been a monster in the AHL, but has looked overwhelmed in his callups to this point.

  13. Even though johnson contract is has one year less and is slightly cheaper than gourde’s, Tampa would be better of trading johnson. The two have produce similar numbers this year but gourde, and palat for that matter, can slide up and down the line and be effective. Where johnson is only really suited for top 6 role and even at that he hasnt produce in that role when given the chance the last 2-3 years.

  14. Brise-Bois got Coleman and Goodrow simply for the reason that they are cheap and have more than one year left on their deals. This will allow Tampa to remain competitive next year. What I’m thinking is that he’ll trade Johnson/Gourde/Palat (some form of a package that involves one of these players) for a first round pick because we don’t have any firsts for this year. This would allow us to relive cap, get better for the future, and have two solid depth players (Coleman, Goodrow) on cheap deals.

  15. I think unfortunately Killorn gets moved this offseason. He's an unreal player especially for the cost of his contract, but I don't see anyone taking Gourde, Johnson or Palat or any of those 3 willing to waive their NTC's.

  16. Tampa is a city you SHOULD be able to win a cup in, it's cheap to live in, it's close-ish to the beach, it's warm all year, and not nearly as expensive as a lot of other American cities. I'm quite sure there are players willing to take a pay cut to stay on that roster.

  17. As a Tampa fan, I think you pretty much nailed this. I do think Shatty will take a team friendly deal as he said he wants to stay so that will be helpful. I also think Tampa has done such a good job theses last few years with lots of playoff appearances with most being a conference final or better with the blip of last year and that one were we missed the playoffs by 1 point. If the season comes back we have to win it all to try and erase last year because that will forever be used against us if we don’t. Go Bolts

  18. Offseason what offseason there has to be a season to have an off season this seasons getting cancelled

  19. Imo none of the UFAs apart from Maroon and Rutta (depends on the amount) is getting signed, Tampa is calling up Foote imo, resigning Sergachev and Cernak, trading Gourde to make space for Cirelli, and maybe somehow signing Joseph and Verhaeghe, Raddysh will be a NHLer next year imo

  20. I actually see Shattenkirk taking a discount to comeback. He’s really enjoyed playing in Tampa and he’s become a solid leader and mentor for that young Blue Line.
