Why do people seem surprised by this? I think many hockey fans with some knowledge saw PLD declining before the trade even happened
Iafallo getting paid $4M and he's pointless in his last 13 games while in his prime at age 29. Vilardi looked great last night, but his production this year has been disheartening outside of this one game while he's being paid $3.8M for the next two years as a pending RFA. Kupari has also been invisible since joining the team. Ultimately, this looks like a trade where both teams lost, but LA lost bigger because they're stuck with an albatross contract and gave up what will probably end up being an early 2nd round pick.
Hahaha LA Kings just did something no other team has ever done in the 107 year history of the NHL and that is win 11 straight games on the road to start the season. Now what are you saying about who won the trade?
Dubois does make Kings crazy deep down middle,and record Kings have is part of this.Little to early to be down on Dubois.
I can’t wait for Kupari to recover and give opposing teams fits with his speed on the forecheck. That’s gotta be his M.O. Very hard to play against a missile like him and he’s forth line? I think he’s gonna develop into a solid third line guy.
Im just curious what was Montreal’s offer to make LA overpay for Dubois that much in the trade.
The contract looks brutal because he is on the 3rd line and not producing atm, but 8.5 isn’t extremely overpaid for a 60 points player, which he isn’t right now.
Still the Kings are doing extremely well for themselves without him doing much, if he ever wakes up, it won’t be good news for the rest of the league.
You got two middle 6 forwards and a bottom six forward… pretty solid pick up….PL isn't a bust or anything like that. Let's talk in a year.

Dubois was a pretty cool dude while in Winnipeg. But I think he likes the benefits that come with hockey , vs a guy like Shiefele or Perfetti who LIVE for hockey. So I wonder if “making Dubois happy” means he is more distracted with the beach, nightlife etc. It’s kinda like a kid who wants to eat pop tarts for breakfast lunch and dinner. He might get what he wants, but it will be bad for him in the long run

As a Jets fan, it's nice to know we don't have to babysit Dubois anymore, and
someone else can have the $ 8.5 million dollar problem. Good riddance.

Im gonna bring the dissenting voice from a Kings fan perspective; regardless lf losing 2 really good players, our lines make more sense now.
Dubois has been playing better than his stats show, as his underlying numbers are pretty good actually
And, the trade was always about the playoffs. We'll see how he plays then, i think he still needs more time to get comfortable and find the linemates he plays best with.
He was playing with Kyle Connor last year, hes not getting to play with Kempe right now. So we'll see! Maybe the Kings break up their second line soon and let PL play with Trevor Moore soon, maybe he and Fiala get paired back up actually get time to figure each others games out.

As a jet fan I loved this trade..the balance n depth has pushed the jets into a top 10 team n with a great goaltender have a legit chance to get to the western finals..in 2 years pld will demand a trade to Montreal..good player but has quit on every team since he was 17..addios

As a king fan, I was heart broken when I saw the trade. Then I was excited, but then I’ve been whatever’s and slowly I’ve been losing faith in the trade. He’s still great but needs to step up. Go Kings Go!
Mark S has been a beast defensively as well this year. Everybody pegs him as a bad defensive player, but he’s been excellent this year both ways

Slow down yeah. Vilardi had the game of his life yes congrats. But had 2 points since coming back from injury and will probably have another whopping 2 points the next 6 or so games. PLD is utter trash right now but I wouldn't say Winnipeg won the trade.
Considering the circumstances of PLD publicly wanting out the Jets got a very good deal. Dubois is having a rough first half of the season for the Kings but his first year with the Jets was very similar .5 ppg and he adjusted to become a .75 points per game or better player. With PLD Kings should have a solid one or two centre in his prime locked up, he's defensively responsible, physically dominant and has a playoff style game that can help replace Kopitar as he ages. These types of players are hard to find.
The Jets greatly increased their forward depth all three forwards are everyday players when healthy, the locker room has greatly improved (know a lot of that was Wheeler) and what was sacrificed was the second line centre position currently filled by Namestnikov. I think the trade worked out for both teams freed up some ice time for younger players like Byfield on the Kings which still are a very deep team.

When I heard that Iafallo was a hunting and fishing guy I realized that he'll probably be a lifer. Helle is also huge into fishing so he's going to fit in like a glove. lol
