I remember this game. What an embarrassing performance by the Leafs.
Tim Bernhardt was under-rated. Had he played for a better team his career would have lasted a lot longer. The leafs were a goalie graveyard back in those days. They just killed the confidence of whoever played in goal for them.
This game was played the day of the Space Shuttle Challenger explosion. I'm surprised that there were any sports games played that night.
Crazy to think these Leafs almost made the Campbell Conference Finals with that record.
Look at how small the goalies were back then and how less of the net they occupied. Big reason why you dont see anymore consistent 50, 60+ goal scorers
