  1. Vasilevskiy showed us what ELITE goaltending is. Skinner does not! For those fans who keep defending him, saying ‘that shot wasn’t stoppable’ or ‘the defense let him down,’ just stop! He has poor lateral movement, a weak five-hole, doesn’t poke check enough, and it’s a guaranteed goal if there’s a 2-on-1 or a breakaway. Don’t let this 8-game winning streak fool you. It’s the team in front of Skinner that’s carrying his subpar performance, not the other way around! If Skinner is on TB side tonight, it’ll probably be 15-0. Knobs need to wake up and play Pickard more at this moment till we get a legitimately #1 goalie because Skinner is NOT!

  2. MacTavish referred to Bouchard as “adequate” defensively! LOL! Another two goals tonight were on him. Honestly, Nurse or Ekholm would look just as good on the Oiler PP. Trade Bouchard now when his value is high and get a proper defender.

  3. In NHL 2006 I’d give skinner a 1 out of 2 for consistency. The oilers need a 2 out of 2 and we have a chance at a cup. He’ll be like Talbot and play amazing in 10 years, but not anytime soon. Trade him for Fleury 😂

  4. I'm an Oilers fan, but that background siren at 0:25 would have been hilarious if someone asked, "Kris, do you think that's another Lightning goal happening at this moment?"

  5. Good job leaving him in net after letting in two goals on first 4 shots! Like really time to kane back with drai instead of on 3 line damn joke

  6. Skinner is not stealing us a series in yhe playoffs. Better hope we don't run into am elite goalie because we'll loose that battle in net.

  7. THe Goalie failed to KYFSOTI… by the way he was not alone there…..and he gave up a Bush-League goal that broke the momentum you had built…and we all know how the streak began and the details that needed to be addressed with the group…..were those details spoken about before the game? @ multiple critical times Oilers failed to KYFSOTI….thats a Coaching detail I thought we had solved? Paul? You to man, where did all the elite level communication go? Clean it up Fellas.

  8. Teams need to insulate their core group from media abuse and distraction. This is part of the Player Asset Management area and Skinner needs a long break from the media Interviews. Hes to young to fence with the media after all hes not Mike Smith and because hes a competitor he will never back down from the media, its up to Management to see these layers and to take affirmative action by sequestering him until he has had more time to ripen and develop his media awareness skillset.

  9. Skinner is a coach killer, play the backup a little more. It’s only one loss but nothing new, shots were low in the last eight games and an Edmonton goalie has yet to steal a game like Vasilevsky did. The team is playing great in front of their goalies, find a number one, not easy but they need it if they want to win the cup.

  10. This loss is on Knoblauch. Knoblauch didn't have the balls to pull Skinner. Should have pulled him 2 minutes into the game to send Skinner a message… we're no longer tolerating those kind of starts. And they happen often with Skinner. Another fine performance by our #1 back up goalie.

  11. It takes a night like tonight for Skinner to see how far he has to go to be a legit #1 goalie. Skinner's ego in my estimation has been deluding him thinking he's a legit #1. He's not, not today. Maybe in 3 to 5 years, but not today. Jackson needs to pony up the draft picks, the prospects, and pick a fricken number to retain on Jack's salary to get a legit #1 goalie asap.

  12. Pretty much have to hand it to Tampa goalie as he stole that game. The Oilers aren’t winning every game but man did they completely dominate for most of the game and just got stoned the majority of the time. Skinner isn’t a number 1 imo but that’s ok for now but if they choose not to address that then they’ll be in trouble in the playoffs if they get in just like last season.

  13. It was a good game, don’t get all the negativity from the fans. Sure Stuey should’ve had last three goals but he has been solid last weeks. People need to realize he is not a fulltime starter YET and it’s gonna take some time for him to be legit number one goalie. He’s just 24, be patient. Dude tries his best, not his fault our projected starter is letting in 4 goals in AHL so he’s forced to play way too many games

  14. The wonderful performance of the team in recent games and in this one, the wonderful work of the coach – all this is visible and it's great and absolutely terrible Skinner's game! What else needs to happen for him to be removed to the farm club? A man concedes 2 goals from 4 shots!!! Even in winning games, Skinner plays terribly. He is slow, chooses his position poorly. It's better to let Picard concede 5 goals than watch Skinner concede EXACTLY 5 goals from 10 shots. Picard plays with passion, he wants to play well, you can see it in the game. Skinner plays like he's doing everyone a favor by agreeing to stand in the gate…We won this game based on the team's play! We lost it with a mediocre goalkeeper's game! Skinner, being in such terrible shape, will continue to expose the team to defeat, he should not go to the base.I repeat, it's better to lose with Picard than to know for sure that Skinner will always miss. Great work by Paul Coffey with the defenders and great work by Knob with the team, you are great fellows! The team is playing great, but Skinner should not appear in the base.

  15. I still believe they should have played Calvin Pickard, let's try Pickard against the Panthers. Skinner is good and needs to get better, this all takes time. I feel we have two great goalies

  16. The Oilers juggernaut, unceremoniously, came crashing down last night in front of a bewildered crowd at Rogers. Indeed there were ups and yes unfortunately, there were downs as well. Regretfully the Oilers were taken off to never-never land as the sinister smirk from the Lightning fans in attendance became unbearable in the dying moments of the third.

Without question Vasilevskiy put on a goaltending clinic, his performance was another notch in the pads of a legend in the making, a Titan between the Iron.

Tis with heavy heart I accept that defeat, but I look to the days ahead for optimism and resolve.

Sharpen your Swords you Warriors of The Oil, for tomorrow is another day and another challenge to overcome.

  17. Food for thought here….Sam Gagner will statistically force his way up this lineup as he has done every year of his career I have seen it all….when he finally ends up with Leon they might make majic because Samwise has played with some very very good players in his career. Dont panic and move Sam now because chemistry is building all around now and the Team is doing OUTSTANDING ….but be aware that he has already outscored his line position this year in limited games so one could say he has already earned a promotion based on merit but is now making the Oilers depth much stronger…..moving players around is serious business and not to be done lightly and of course there is no reason to consider it right now ,because the Team is playing great its simply a future option worth putting on the back burner. We are now in familiar territory….we are starting a new win streak….3s6s9s….thats how it has to go…..you WILL get there. Nothing technical or tactical needs to be adjusted I believe the Teams doing excellent and trending upwardly but the basic details OVERLOOKED LAST NIGHT like KYFSOTI MUST BE TALKED ABOUT GAME IN AND GAME OUT BY EVERYMAN INCLUDING COACHES SO THE REDUNDANCY LEVEL IS OFF THE CHARTS. This KYFSOTI conversation is a pink Elephant in the room and IMHO it has to be like a mealtime Prayer something you make a habit of doing together every game.

  18. a couple of the goals for tampa had an element of luck, they were awkward. people need to calm down on skinner, look at the night bobrovsky had – that's some terrible play.
