People like you need to stop thinking you are a NHL GM. The lack of effort isn’t coach specific OBVIOUSLY SINCE THEY HAVE BEEN THROUGH THREE COACHES WITH THIS CORE GROUP OF PLAYERS. And no, this team is FAR BETTER than a majority of Jerome Iginla-led teams. You haven’t been alive long enough to be able to make these ridiculous comments. They are already paying Bill Peters and now you want to pay Ward to go away and then pay yet another coach?? Just stop already. THESE PLAYERS SIGNED OFF ON THE HIRING OF THIS COACH!! The coach doesn’t play the game. The shit effort these guys have is the issue. It’s the same shit this core has done for years. It’s so easy to blame the coach but wake up. This team is no good. They haven’t had a #1 center in 25 years. They don’t have a #1 dman. This team is built like shit. Scotty Bowman could come in and nothing would change with this team. If this team was so “close” they would figure out how to start on time.

The Calgary Pathetics. They have all forgotten they are where they dreamt of being. Being paid in a year more than a lot of people make in a lifetime for playing a game. Their loyal fans who treat them like gods and line up to buy their sweaters, merchandise and spend upwards of a days wage to attend one of their games. You are right. Geoff Ward is so bad as a coach. They need to fire him before they are too far out of the playoff race.
Honestly at this point everything needs to go. We haven't had a full rebuild since 2004. Although, I think ownership probably made the coaching decision, ward was cheap and they don't wanna spend the cash for a real coach
Oh Comon, Flames are no where near as bad as the Oilers were for the better part of 30 years. I don't follow the Flames at all, and other then those 2 shet D men you have, I didn't see a lack of compete, just a lack of enough talent to generate Offence. Flames are about 4 players away from being a reasonably solid team imo.
The Flames could undoubtedly land a big haul for Giordano – a haul that would improve the outlook of the team moving forward.
As much as everyone loves Giordano, a slowly declining soon-to-be 37-year-old isn’t much use to a retooling team

The Flames did not replace Brian Burke when he resigned, then Ken King died and they didn't replace him either. IMO they need to hire a new President first and let that person start reshaping the organization. I would not let Treliving hire another coach…Ward is his 4th Head Coach in just 7 years. Time for this organization to set a new course and that starts with a new President.
Bottom pairing of Valimaki and Nesterov is a nighmare. Try mixing it up a bit and pair each of them with a better defender to eliminate scoring chances and turn overs.

Calgary has had eleven coaches since 2000 and after leaving Calgary ten of them have never been head coaches in the NHL again (Darryl Sutter with Los Angeles is the only exception). Treliving and previous general managers have made bad coach hiring choices or their budget for coaching salaries has been too limited. It's bad.
