  1. SIMPLE TRUTH- That TEAM is WAY BETTER than the RECORD! I think they need to give DJ a contract extension. Also, someone needs to start at center ice and run straight into the boards! I want to see them LEGLESS! They need the cap space!!

  2. Ottawa only played 8 games on the road out of 25 and they still have a losing record. That team is done with the rebuild. All their kids have their big money so this is it. Lets hope everyone develop as they were expected to cuz if not, you may be looking at a copy of the Buffalo situation where playoffs are nothing but an unattainable dream.

  3. Can they turn it around? Nope. Not enough to make the playoffs. Same with Buffalo. Both teams may have better second halfs but they ain't going nowhere and the only thing they'll do is set their fans up for more disappointment next year.

  4. Coach needs to go. This is not a team lacking in talent but lacking in structure. The pk last night against Dallas was atrocious, along with all the other schemes and positioning. These losses are not because of the guys sitting on the bench. They're because of the guy standing behind it.

  5. Don't know of the goings on in Ottawa, maybe coaching is a problem, but I'm sure it's also lack of talent, goaltending and under performing! A long with jersey, Carolina, buffalo…

  6. It blows my mind that this team sucks every year. What’s there excuse? Look at Winnipeg, we are told at the start of every season that the jets suck and nobody wants to play there yet they’re always in the mix for a playoff spot. All I heard on TSN was how good the sens would be this year and how schifele and helly would never sign in Winnipeg and they are going to break the team up and rebuild. Hmmm how did that work out.

  7. That detroit game needs an asterisk next to it since the wings only had 9 forwards after the first period

  8. Why are you asking us where the blame lies?? YOU tell us where the blame lies. You’re making the damn video 🤯

  9. Their schedule is a big obstacle. They were at 23 games played with just 6 road games played when the rest of the NHL was at 25-30 games played. To make up the games in hand, they have to make them up by playing a lot of road games without much time off. And it's very hard to get points in those types of games.

Even before I realized how messed up their schedule was, I had them in the same category as Detroit, Philadelphia, Montreal, and Columbus – teams that I didn't expect to be in the mix for a playoff spot this season. It looks like I'm wrong about Detroit and Philadelphia, but it looks like I am right about Ottawa, Montreal, and Columbus.

  10. They could've turned it around by firing DJ a month ago. At this point, it's obvious that they're prioritizing the "due diligence" on the GM hire and they're punting on this season. the fans know it and the players know it, which is why no one gives a fuck and there's zero accountability for bad play/effort.

  11. Their captain is an insufferable animal. Their team is lousy with goons with minimal talent. Someone needs to sleep Brady for his own good.

  12. With the exception of Chabot, who's injured, Their blueline is either too young or lack the skill enough to keep them in games. It's almost like they could use a veteran defenseman who's skilled enough to get the puck up to the plethora of skilled forwards… Wonder who they could get…

Maybe someone like Erik Karl… oops!

  13. this is why when fans scream "tear it down and rebuild", you need to be very careful what you wish for. You may end up exactly where Ottawa and Buffalo are every year. Boston loses key players and just keeps on truckin', that's the team you need to copy for success.

  14. Their captain has the mentality of a high school kid. He barks at officials; he's borderline dirty; and he throws temper tantrums twice a week. He's only 24 but in his 3rd year with the "C." I think it was too much too soon and that he still doesn't deserve it. I actually like his feisty rat/mental patient persona, but NOT in a leadership role. I don't think immature men make good captains. Most guys will give lip service to following that kind of man, but in reality, they don't respect it and the team breaks off into cliques.

Plus, they're schizophrenic; they play solidly one night and beat a quality opponent, then follow it up with uninspired, disjointed games against middlers. Weird team – tough to like them. Chychrun probably wishes he was back in the desert; at least you can leave practice wearing shorts and flip-flops there as you head out to play 18 holes after a mid-week morning skate. Ottawa in December? Not so much.

  15. Hard to understand. Good players come to Ottawa and do not perform. Players not performing in Ottawa go elsewhere and become stars. Coaching ? For sure there are things to look at. They have never wanted to hire one of the NAME coaches, they seem to like to promote junior coaches and so far that hasn't worked. If they don't make a move soon the fans will completely desert this team.

  16. This season is over DJ and his bench staff have down so much damage to this team that it would take the new coach too long to reverse the damage and get them into contention where they should be but they need to fire DJ to get ready for next season idk why its such a big deal for Andlauer and Staios coaches are fired all the time in the NHL DJ shouldve been gone last November

  17. the most frustraing thing is everyone knows the only massive issue with this team is coaching most things fall into place and perform how they should with a competent NHL coach

  18. I did think the Sens were going to be a playoff team this year i still think they get better but not a deep team no playoffs this year

  19. A new coach would only help if he wire goalie pads and new how to use them. Same story game after game – both goalies are atrocious.

  20. We are seeing The Worst Era in Ottawa Senators history. Minus our initial seasons, 1992-96, we have always been good to great. What is happening now is REALLY Hard to Take! Please let DJ go and lets Move On….Go Sens Go!

  21. I think the Sens have a wonderful core of young stars. When there on and playing well they can beat anyone. Two things that I believe could make them a top team. A goaltender they can rely on, but most of the league has the same problem and a new voice. I think DJ Smith is a nice man that is well liked by the team. I think they need someone who can push them and motivate them every game. He seems to have lost the room?

  22. If they reach 30 loses before getting 20 wins, DJ is gone regardless. Theyll make one of their current coaches interim head coach and that guy will be let go in the offseason. Whole office rebuild with new GM first and then entirely new coaching staff. Edit – no one is going to be hired full-time as coach without a GM. No one would want that job.

  23. I think they just need to punt on this season. The only person who was pushing for playoffs or bust is no longer with the organization. There is no rush from either a management or ownership to turn this season around immediately. It sucks for the fans and players, but a little bit more short term pain is probably needed to keep this team competitive for years to come.

Staois has been with this organization for less than 3 months. He needs to be given time to evaluate every aspect of the franchise and then bring the people that he thinks will best fit this team and his philosophy. Ownership needs to fill out the barebones management team some more before focusing on the on ice product. DJ clearly isn't cutting it, but let the team find the right candidate before letting him go.

This off season is where real change is going to happen. $5M of dead cap off the books; A Hamonic buyout will cost the franchise less than the salary recapture of the White buyout; I personally can see a Chabot trade either at the deadline or at the draft; a more efficient coach and playing structure can quickly retool this team into a contender.

  24. They need to fire DJ Smith,he can’t get the team to play consistently. They’ll play great one game and then they’re hot garbage. I get the desire for stability but this is not what you want. With Berube and Woodcroft available, what’s holding you back

  25. No Tarasenko on top of more injuries last night pretty much sealed the collapse against Dallas, yeah there was some bad luck and bone head moments as well but yet another game where DJ waits way too long to pull the goalie so the game was over well before the clock hit zero. This team has struggled to stay healthy which definitely isn't helping. If Dorian was getting canned DJ should have gone with him. I expected this team to be at worst handily in the top wild card spot but if they don't turn it around there will be another year of no playoffs. As a fan of the Flames and Sens I might go as far to say I'd rather have Darryl Sutter behind the bench in Ottawa 😂

  26. I'm not usually a "fire the coach" guy, I don't believe it's ever just the coach. But it's obvious something needs to give the team a spark. No one really expected a Stanley Cup run this year, but they definitely have the talent to make it to the first round at least. How many times have the coaches players done the post game interview and said 'We just weren't ready at the start"
