I'm convinced that there's problems with the Scheifele/Wheeler core.
Here's a trade proposal:
Scheifele to the Hurricanes for Brett Pesce (RD) and Martin Necas (RW/C).
I've said this before and I will say it again. Ondřej Pavelec was left to twist in the wind…long before #37 was. Everyone got on his case and nailed him to the cross. And I will say this again, too…the type of game the Jets play now is a bit better than the one when Pav was here. But it's literally the same version…the same style or brand the Jets are known to play. And even with Trouba, Buff, Myers, Chiarot, Enstrom…and a young #44…we've always been defensively suspect. We have, and everyone knows it. Those guys got scored on, too. There's been absolutely no Norris Trophy candidates skating on the blueline over the past 11 years. We may score 6 or 7, but give up 4 along the way. That's where the arrogance of this team set in. In those moments where they felt they could outscore any deficiencies on the back end. And that is what lingers with this team. Perhaps the proper term is 'complacency' like Andrew Copp said. Getting used to being comfortable. Maybe we shouldn't be using the words…apathy or indifferent. They got spoiled with lights-out offense. And when they fell back to earth…they had been so conditioned to produce, they forgot to penny pinch, invest and save. Now there's no more weekly allowance!
