Vladar outdueled Vasy. That’s really about the story with this one.
I honestly don’t mind the way they played. This is the right approach to win games. Low event hockey, didn’t give up really much of anything in terms of quality. Frustrating to say the least since these are the kinds of games where they really need 2 points if they want to grab a wild card spot.
Brutal to lose that goaltending match up. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, did everyone ahead of us lose today too? The ones that matter at least? I can accept a no-blood consolation.
Santa I have two wishes relating to hockey:
1. For the Bolts to stop playing in the Saddledome
2. For them to remember how to play a full 60 minutes
Some hard luck goals against, and then a huge muffin at the crucial moment. We need Vasy to be perfect to win games to win with how poor our defense is, and when he’s not, we’re just going to lose. There’s really no solution to this issue without Vasy going .940 beast mode or our offense just exploding, both of which are unrealistic.
Kuch got pts, and the rd trip is over. You can’t be TOO bummed. It still sucks tho. Esp. with such a winnable game
.846 S% just ain’t gonna cut it. The team didn’t play amazing tonight but they didn’t play awful either, and this Calgary team isn’t exactly an elite scoring threat. We shouldn’t have to score 5 every game to win.
Terrible road trip
I stayed up for this? And of course, another team ends their losing streak against the Lightning. *sigh*
First Period: Sleepy
Second Period: Disaster
Third Period: Good Effort.
Honestly, though, it’s embarrassing you cannot just turn up for third periods and expect to win every game. Vasi still needs to get his game back, the turnovers are way too high,the reads on the defensive end are suspect and the lack of depth in the scoring department is a problem on this team.
They were up against a Flames team with their best defensive defencemen out in Tanev, just traded away Zadarov and up against a goaltender in the 880 SV arena, a team on a four-game losing streak!
When guys like Jordan Oesterle and A.J. Greer are part of the standout performers for a team (Opposing Team), I don’t know what to say. These are the games you have to win, and it’s not the first time this has happened. It happened against the Blackhawks, Blue Jackets, and Kraken earlier this season. You can’t lose these sorts of games if you want to get a winning streak going and ultimately make the playoffs.
Also, it’s a joke that this road trip started in Nashville when heading west.

The 4th goal was atrocious. Don’t they teach goalies to hug outside the post, not behind it so any shot that hits your body will just fall into the net?
A 10 day road trip and they come home with only 4 points to show for it. We’re two places *below* a wild card spot. Is the Tampa juggernaut over?
