  1. Why does it always feel like the refs are missing blatant calls or calling fantom penalties against the bruins?

Don’t get me wrong, this is the only team I watch so i don’t know what’s happening with the rest of the league but this seems very uneven.

I remember a time when refs didn’t effect the outcome of games this much.

  2. (there'll be a thank you to people at the end of this super duper long comment) This was a wild game. A lot of frustration and jubilation through it all. IMO the Islanders are in interesting team, they have the talent to be a 3rd or 4th place team in the metro, are overperforming in the standings and somehow underperforming in the underlying statistics. The Bruins also have the talent necessary to be 3rd or 4th, but thanks to a hot start and the other teams in the Atlantic having slow starts/ not performing up to expectations has allowed the B's to gain a sizeable lead on the division.

    Forward notes:

    Marchand-Coyle-Debrusk
Seperating Coyle and Frederic is always a no-no I'm my books unless it's due to an injury to one of them. They play too well together. Whilst this line wasn't spectacular they did play well enough together and it's always nice to see Debrusk with Marchand.

    Heinen-Geekie-Pastrnak
This line surprised me in such a good way. Heinen has taken over what Lucic was playing as for the team as that forward you can put on any line and expect it to work, and imo he's also playing that role better than Lucic was. Geekie might genuinely earn himself a semi-permanent Top 6 role if his play continues like this, he has been a genuine joy to watch since the Zacha injury happened, and I'm glad he's taken this opportunity to show what he has to offer. This line was electric tonight.

    JVR-Frederic-Boqvist
It's so weird to see Freddy play C after all this time even though that is his official position. It's clear he is very rusty playing C after years on playing the Wing, but maybe this Kickstarts him being a C more often when they pull Poitras out for those maintenence days. Boqvist was there I guess? Did he even get a shift after the first period? This is a genuine question and not a joke.

    Lauko-Beecher-Steen
Lauko has been a huge disappointment this season so far, he had a strong start but ever since his injury he just hasn't played the same imo, wondering if that injury has made him too cautious in battles and such to try and avoid that happening again. Beecher has been mighty struggling as of late for the most part, wonder if they'll start doing maintence days for him as well like they've been doing for Poitras to help ease the burden he's had as being not only the 4th C but as also a trusted person to take a lot of PK time. Steen still has his struggles but I think he's definitely carved out himself that 13th F role alongside Lauko.

    Defense Notes:

    Lindholm-Shattenkirk
It's weird to see Lindholm not play with Carlo, but I understand there's a good reason for that. Lindholm has been a very solid 2 way D for the Bruins this year, even if his point totals don't show that well. Shattenkirk has really solidified himself on that PP, he's really good at keeping the puck in the zone and has performed well on it, now if only he could bring that play consistently to his 5v5 play as well.

    Grzelcyk-Carlo

It's sad to say but Gryz has been an utter liability since he's returned from injury. He can't even be trusted to play solid D anymore forcing Monty to put our best defensive Dman in Carlo on his right side to make sure nothing atrocious happens when he's out on the ice. I'm really hoping he gets back to his former self, cause otherwise it might go from complaining about his play to questioning if he should be scratched for Lohrei or even if he'll become another Reilly for the B's as the year goes on if his play doesn't improve I'd say by the end of January. Carlo was amazing as normal.

    Lohrei-Wotherspoon

I personally like Lohrei with Shattenkirk more but I think he played fine with Wotherspoon tonight. He still makes mistakes that shows he isn't 100% ready for the NHL, but he keeps improving every game which you love to see. Wotherspoon played well, I don't mind his callup looking back at it, and I trust him more right now over Mitchell.

Ullmark saved the teams ass tonight with vezina level play from him, his final game stats don't represent how amazing he was.

    Team notes:

Special teams was the Bruins bread and butter tonight. If it wasn't for the ST and Ully they probably would've lost 6-2. Bruins got lucky with this one, definitely need to see a more consistent effort from them tomorrow, well I guess technically today? Go B's? GO B'SSSSSSS!!

Now I would like to thank everyone who gave me condolences on last games comment I made. It meant a lot and helped me tremendously. Seriously thank you all.

  3. Bruins had no business winning this game but I'll gladly accept it. I'm really getting fed up with Montgomery and his constant screwing with lines. Your top center is out so the best thing to do is to healthy scratch your No. 3 center right? Heinen, Geekie and Pasta were listed as your top line. Are you freakin serious? I swear he has a man crush on Heinen. Geekie and Heinen are at best 3rd or 4th line players. JVR, Freddie and Boqvist as your 3rd line? That's barely a 4th line.

The players looked lost and confused out there. There was no rhythm or cohesiveness on offense. It was mostly individual efforts. They'd go in, get a bad angle shot or get a pass intercepted and right back on defence. There was very little sustained pressure. The guys aren't used to playing as a line. It takes time to gel as a line. Lohrei is a defensive nightmare, though I like him on offense. But he's getting way too much ice time. If Poitras screwed up as often as Lohrei, never mind benching him, he'd try to get him kicked out of the league. When I see the line combinations he puts together I swear he's trying to lose. Ullmark let in 4 goals but honestly, it could easily have been 7 or 8 had he not been great.

As currently set up, this team does not get out of the 1st round, again.

  4. I really like your take on Poitras' scratch. I played Junior A and can't explain enough how difficult it was to play back to backs at 19. Can't imagine what it's like at the NHL level plus all the added travel. Definitely the right call to give Matt some time to rest and I've been beyond impressed with his play so far this year.

  5. I was at the game and it felt deliciously greasy getting out of there with a win. Did not expect to see so many pucks go in the net! Very confused at times too by the calls. Very few replays were shown and couldn't really hear the refs much when they explained things. Anyway, it was a welcome xmas-gift dub! Go Bs!!

  6. Last year, the Bruins went 110% almost to the end and the tried to rest. I guess the decision was to reduce effort every game and save the 110% effort for the playoffs?

  7. This is one of those rare occasions where I stick up for the refs. Sure the first call wasn't a hook remotely and the young ref looked like he was scared announcing the calls. But the Marchand goal was all glove with an opened hand so not exactly an easy goal to uphold. The Pasta trip occured on the initial contact not the stumble on the second (non contact) contact.

  8. Almost every other team in the NHL would love to have our problems. We are #1 in the NHL in Points percentage, #1 in the Eastern Conference and #2 in Goals Against in the NHL. HOW CAN WE NOT BE CONSIDERED A CUP?!

  9. Dude. That game gave me anxiety. I know we're down some key players but holy shut.
Geekie looks pretty good the last couple.
    GO BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES

  10. To me, it would be a little ridiculous to talk about what anything means in the playoffs. If we go by last year, we should have gone much farther in the playoffs and Florida should have never made it as far as they did. Once we're in, it's a different story. Teams play differently in the playoffs than they do in the regular season.

  11. In Canada we're starting to hear rumblings of possible trade talk between Bruins/Flames. Grzelizc & DeBrusk (BOS) and Lindholm & Hannifan (CAL) are the names I'm hearing. You guys hearing this stuff in Boston

  12. Much love to you brother! Gotta do my daily per video like, comment, subscribe, and nail it! Gotta do my part too here, every video here on out from me. You deserve it man!

  13. My take on why Merk or Farinacci didn’t get called up is probably based off the 7-0-1 record in the last 8 games and they want to keep those players hot before potentially destroying confidence or making them nervous for a short call up that will throw of how they play when sent back down

  14. Emotional roller coaster game! Shattenkirk was Dr. Jeckly and Mr. Hyde. Grzelizc hasn't looked like Grzelizc of last year, he's invisible out there. Maybe he's still getting up to speed after his injury.

  15. MY big problem is DeBrusk, again. Plays die when he gets the puck, kid refuses to take or give the body. They have to find a line mates that get this kid going. He's just not contributing this year.
