Oof. Silver lining is Nemec can get some more experience and learn from his mistakes, and dougie will be back for the playoffs

its our turn for cap shenanigans! now win some games so we make playoffs and dont miss this opportunity

Most realistic way I see this factoring in is that we shouldnt have to ask teams to retain in a trade if we end up being buyers.

If we have a similar offer on the table as another team for an upcoming FA trade piece (Tanev, Henrique, Hanifin, etc) but we dont have to ask for retention that might help us be favorites. Dont know how much it helps for guys with term as we know Dougies 9M will be back on the books next year.

Noo too bad considering it’s February already.

Get well soo- or uh, eventually, Doug 🫡.

On the plus side Nemec has taken the ball and freakin’ ran with it since this spot on defense opened up. And pending a playoff berth, getting a fresh Dougie inserted into the lineup in the playoffs with Nemec and Luke having had the majority of the season to grow their game is some kind of defensive depth to have for the postseason.

It’ll be really interesting to see what GM Fitz looks to do with that cap room once Hamilton is put on LTIR.

So is he down to the LtIR? Cap friendly doesn’t have him listed. I guess it doesn’t matter since it can be retroactive.

  7. This is good for us, in a way. We’re doing all the things that need to be done for Dougie and now we have some cap clarity. We also have a Christmas list that’s a mile long lol. Let’s see what Fitzmagic awaits!

Hopefully Fitz brings in the reinforcements, definitely a few spots that can be upgraded.

I hope he recovers and comes back when he’s ready. He’s a superstar and sorely missed

Damn. I googled it as « pro athlete torn pec recovery » and said 3-4 months for high-grade. Since he had surgery I figured it was on the longer end.

Really sucks, I know he was polarizing this year, but even without PP1 he was still crushing it offensively. I’ll never forget his Game 3 OT goal these past playoffs as well. Hope he makes a full recovery and finds his game/place back in the lineup when he returns.

Will be interesting to see what moves Fitz can make with the cap space this frees up since Dougie will be out until the playoffs with this timeline. I still think this team is better than their standing, now they can add an impact rental player somewhere. The core is young, we have prospects, upcoming draft picks are more valuable as trade chips than any more rebuilding
