Laine didn't want to leave WPG. He just said he wants first line time there, as everyone would want. His agent and Cheveldayof decided this was the best for both.

The trade scenario is an interesting one, in my opinion Dubois is a bit overrated and Roslovic alone was quite a good asset. He could be traded but Laine has said multiple times that he loves Columbus. Kekalainen isn't a GM who would hesitate with anything. Laine will get a minimum 7m contract because of his RFA status, but it will likely be only a couple of years. I'd be surprised if Jarmo wants long term right now, all things considered.
