Definitely not ready to play, cmon. We have eyes!!! This team is fundamentally flawed. I am convinced that they are not capable of consistent, disciplined, cerebral hockey. Let your opponents have a track meet, be smart, play patient hockey, and capitalize on your chances. Embarrassed to be a fan.

This defence and the defence of years past have always been an issue…I feel for the goalies that if they allow a bad goal this team will crumble. Sammy played terribly but good teams can limit high percentage chances against.
Leafs don’t have anything other than an exciting run and gun game, setting personal records in the regular season, and thats a shame for leaf fans.

Matthews assessment is spot on. A disgrace by almost everyone, including himself. I disagreed with Keefe starting Samsonov, but his team mates basically hung him out to dry with dreadful D-zone coverage, give-aways in all zones & butter-soft, with next-to-no hits in a pathetic effort. Like Matthews said, "just a bad game". Flush it & move on & Jones better be in the net to start in Columbus. His fellow Leafs also hung him out dry, just like they did with Samsonov.

Listening to the postgame interviews tonight is very telling in terms of the lack of character of the 2023-24 Leafs. After Tampa lost in the playoffs last year Steven Stamkos courageously talked to the media about what it takes for a team to win in the playoffs and the pain and disappointment of losing. There was no BS about embarrassment or getting too far away from their usual game. For the teams that will prevail in this years playoffs, none of them will have played as poorly as the Leafs did tonight. The Leadership outside of the Leafs simply wouldn’t tolerate it. Torontos team defence is pathetic because they appear to have no system in place in their own end. There is way too much traffic in front of their own net, they’re losing too many face offs in their own end, and they are being regularly out hustled by opposition forecheckers. No wonder their goalies are injured or burnt out. Coaching needs to spend more time developing defensive strategies and getting all players to play more physically. This team is out hit in nearly every game. And why do fans have to tell them this?
