Scott said it perfectly, can get hurt anywhere even at a practice, i don't mind them sending Matty Poitras , refresh button get to represent the best Country in the world at the biggest stage for these kids, would love to see Georgii Merkulov play a game, at this stage in Poitras career he's just a little piece to the puzzle, so missing 2 weeks mid year i feel will not make the bruins or him back track,it will maybe give other players like merkulov a chance to get called up.. then just have more people battling to be in the line up
Poitras is not Lysell. I think the decision to let Poitras go to the WJC shows how much the Bruins value Poitras, both for now and for the future. At the WJC, he will be playing more, which is important for him right now developmentally (and it is an important event for him, personally). Poitras is folowing in the steps of Bergeron. Poitras is a diamond in the rough (and, yet, he still shines as is). Poitras is not AHL eligible, so the WJC makes perfect sense from a development standpoint. Hopefully, he does well at the WJC. Even if he doesn't, Montgomery and Sweeney have said he's coming back the Boston Bruins. This is not a case where Poitras has to dominate the WJC in order to get back to the NHL; there should not be too much pressure on him.
DeBrusk has not been scoring and I'm sure it is weighing on him. He took, maybe, 3 shots that seemed like he was reaching. All 3 shots missed. If you are going to take those shots you really need to hit the net!
The Pastrnak hit on Lindgren was a 2 minute hit. The hit on MacAvoy was much worse.
Poitras is MUCH more likely to get injured in the NHL. Playing against older professionals is much more dangerous than playing against 19 year olds.
This was one of your best Podcasts! Thank you!
It;s a mans game. YES YOU ARE WRONG.
I missed the vote, but I'm in the minority too! As amazing as it will be to see Poitras on team Canada, I think that he should have stayed with the Bruins. Especially because the Bruins will need that depth down the stretch and shouldn't be taking unnecessary risk. I really enjoyed the discussion and different points of view on this topic. But I am wondering how the decision for Poitras to play for Canada will alter his management plan, and how he will recover once it's over. Will he hit a wall by Feb?
Only reason they lost to Wild, is because Fleury stood on his head. It should have been 6-1 in the second period.!! That's the truth.
All valid points on Poitras, but sometimes you just need to let go. If its meant to be the universe will bring him back to us.
