Shadows of the Devils Caps game earlier this year imo. They showed up for the middle 20 minutes tonight before collapsing, just like they did then. This isn't a confident team rn. Luke had two turnovers that lead to goals, Bahl had one, Marino blew an assignment, V was swimming like a fish at times… The only bright spots were they pulled themselves out of an initial 2-0 hole, and Meier finally got one. When the 4th line is your best offensive line you're probably not going to win many games either. Disappointing is an understatement. I don't have the answers for how this gets better, but something has to give soon.
What is going on with this d-zone awareness it’s reminiscent of youth hockey days. Against the flyers it showed a stat, team in playoff race by Christmas are 86% chance likely to make it in. Looks like we are missing the playoffs this year and there will be changes at some point taking place, I just hope sooner rather than later.
Ruff and his staff has lost the respect of the team…..no consequences for dump plays….they team isn’t responding to them, sit freaking ball for that dumb turnover, goalie situation, D all over the place, no front net presence, no grit other than lazar, soft soft soft….not a playoff team, period

Hughes and Marino are our weakest D-men causing brutal turnovers and missing assigments every game but he still keeps them in the line-up somehow!! Just get some D-men from Utica. Just try to play them insted and see how it goes. But no, this old dumbass would not even consider some changes! Him and Fitzerald must go!!

in the words of jalen hurts about the eagles: “we are not committed.” teams not committed to playing in lindy’s system, get a younger more passionate coach to run this team and see what happens. all those early penguins teams with baby crosby and malkin and letang ended up getting a coaching change in 09, got a cup. 2016 they fired their coach and got mike sullivan. and got back to back cups. sometimes you need a new voice for example larry robinson in 2000 for the nj devils, new voice different energy. get this team a new voice in that locker room and things will change in a heartbeat.
When you diagnose a loss it's "helpful" to have the ability to visualize your team winning by changing the execution of play, maybe be more patient and be willing to regroup and attack through the neutral zone in waves. Maybe you need wingers to square up to the net more or you need defensemen to gain zone entry. Maybe it's the Defense being willing to take penalties with over aggression in front of the net or maybe it's sticks in lanes and angles. Unless fans can watch games and give good feedback there's only the guys in the locker room to rely on and their getting covered in shit.
Fitzgerald has SCREWED the goalie position his entire tenure. The goaltending up and down the entire organization STINKS. Team is soft. Goaltending STINKS and as much as the 4th line has produced…then entire bottom 6 is filled with potato can players who dont score 20 goals per.
Right now, this teams bottom 6, entire defense, all the goaltending, PK, & 5 on 5…..are ALL TERRIBLE!
We can start the we need to play better, get tougher, have a players meeting only and coaching staff say we need to coach much better talk. However, real problem is the goaltending situation is hopeless. Defense is very young and needs leadership. This is not a playoff team by any means and if this continues that's what will happen. Also, don't start the Fire Ruff comments either. He is not going anywhere.
They lack heart! From warm ups they looked flat. Edmonton was skating all over them. It’s almost like the team doesn’t care. It’s the old we’ll get them next time mentality. It’s deadly in sports. There’s no urgency or desperation. They’re lacking focus. The fans are getting restless
Fitz killed us. Instead of getting a goalie, he got Taffoli, who we didn't need, and traded a kid we did need. Just let the young team gel Tom. This may have been a fatal mistake. Sharangovich should still be here….with a different goalie.
