As for my own team, the Canucks under Tocchet in 2023 have been surprisingly effective, but we’re still in the regular season. IMO playoff storylines take precedence.

This was a pretty good list but I’m surprised he wasn’t on it.
Him chasing the goal scoring record was a storyline that could have carried the league through the next 2/3 years, headline coverage.
I don’t think even his biggest doubters (myself included) would have predicted his abysmal start to this season. If he was on his normal pace or even just slightly below, the “Gretzky watch” would be on full display.
I wouldn’t really be surprised if he eventually turns it on and gets back on track to break the record. But so far he has been *bad*. He looks so disinterested and I haven’t seen a single interview from him asking about it.
