I wanna keep Chris 😭 in the NHL. Up here. With us.

Let’s see if it sustains. Personally, I don’t think Gru should be our starter any longer, but that likely depends on how things continue to unfold.
Nothing against Gru but he’s never looked like the guy to me in Seattle outside the Avs playoff series and a handful.of individual games.

Let me preface this by saying that I like Grubauer! I know I’m going to get downvotes for this but this makes me wonder, even though it’s a small sample size, if Grubauer should be waived or if they should try to move his contract. In the 2 1/2 year sample size of goalies that we now have, this team consistently plays better when Grubauer isn’t in net.
I don’t think by any means that Gru is a bad goalie but I’m wondering if his style just isn’t a good fit for this team. Joeys more aggressive style seems to gel better. After only one game, it’s way too early to say with Driedger but if the Kraken could find a team willing to take on Grus contract, and that team was a better fit for him, I’d be happy to see him go somewhere he could have more success. Also going to post this in the daily thread just to have more conversation.

Sorry Gru, you need to play the hot hand like we did with Jones last year.

I mean, Gru is dear to my heart (just as Jones was), but is it possible he’s coming back a little worse for wear after every groin injury?
It’s almost like a recurring nightmare at this point. You could make a supercut of all the times he’s made a save doing splits that would make a pole dancer blush, and then immediately folded forward in agony. And not just since he joined the Kraken!
He’s been remarkably resilient by normal human standards, but it seems like every time he bounces back a little more shellshocked. So he’s a little more cautious in the net, and his saves get dicier, and then he feels like he has to bust out the Gumby heroics and boom! He’s hurt again.
I just genuinely hate the thought of him repeating this cycle, with a worse ROI for him and for the team each time.
I’m no doctor and certainly no goaltender. Maybe I’m overthinking it. But I’d rather not watch a good guy suffer like that if he could comfortably retire on a high note.
