I’m not going to feel confident about this team’s chances of contending until they sort out how to handle that style of play. They are a great team but they can’t seem to handle a heavy forecheck, neutral zone trap style & counterattack off the rush. Vegas, LA and Philly all seem to give them absolute fits.

Sooner or later, our top six needs to become relevant again, because this is starting to be pretty alarming. You can’t have your top guys disappear for this long and expect to win important games.
My Christmas is ruined, we live in a society
First game back after the holiday break, not going to put much stock into it good or bad.
The worrying trends from before the break though continue, our bottom 6 couldnt save our underperforming top players and power play tonight. All our top players were bad tonight, forwards and defense.
We just don’t match up against the flyers for some reason. Can’t win em all.
I think I speak for the entire sub when I say I am glad Vancouver doesn’t have to play Philadelphia.
It’s just one game and hopefully they bounce back and absolutely destroy the senators on Tuesday!!

Tocchet will grill them, hopefully this is a wake-up call. Pretty pathetic way to snap a 9 game point streak, but it’s just one game.

That Boeser play was extremely disappointing on that one SH goal. Like that was beyond lazy.
Well at least thirst line scored again. Kuzmenko honestly looked good to me except for the third so I hope he isn’t the whipping boy for this loss. Garland created some great scoring chances with Mik and Dak but unfortunately they weren’t put in.
Miller line struggled bad and PP1 getting scored SH was the final nail for us. Oh well onto the next game.
Losses happen. They played better than the score reflected. Desmith had probably his worst game (although not to blame)
As long as they bounce back next game. I won’t dwell on the loss.
First regulation loss in 10, jeebus we are doing well.

All this « contender » talk, pffffft. Anything CAN happen if you make the playoffs… but i am not even concerned. Even the POSSIBILITY of playoffs is music to my ears!

While Juulsen has been better lately hopefully next game Soucy is in. Not just on him but how can you as a physical defenceman who is about to be taken out of the lineup see your goalie get run over right in front of you and not do anything about it.

Hughes was good, Hronek was questionable but got better throughout the game.
Myers was solid but Zadorov was attrocious tonight. As long as it’s one game, it’s okay.
Juulsen was solid other then one giveaway, Cole struggled at times.
JT Miller and Boeser looked incredibly sluggish. They were playing as if they had just ended a 4-day binge drinking bender.

Well that was rough. Now we have another long break probably to make up for our back to backs earlier this year. Ottawa can be good but are fragile. Lets win the next one and forget this one

Called it in another thread earlier.. Flyers play hard and you gotta play as hard as them because on many nights hard work > skill
Hard work beats skill when skill doesn’t show up, that’s what the flyers did to us tonight,
We weren’t gonna get points from every game from now until the end of the season, Philly outworked us again, the SHG was the back breaker. Hopefully this serves as a reminder that even though they were first in the league during Christmas, that you cannot play comfortable

Guys we have 10 regulation losses at the end of December. It took almost 3 months to hit double digit losses.

The Flyers came to play tonight. Torts had a clear and noticeable game plan and his boys stuck to it. They didn’t allow us any clean zone entries. Made few mistakes. Forced us to make mistakes and then capitalized on it. Boeser had a bad game. He missed a couple of grade-A chances and was entirely at fault for that shorty, leaving Hathaway all alone to score. This was a good test though. This is what a playoff game will look like. Facing a good quality team that gives you absolutely nothing, forcing you to make a mistake and then pouncing on every opportunity.
Next game is Ottawa. Let’s hope for a good 2024

but as a follower of Ottawa as well, the Canucks will have a good chance to break this Sens team down if they can neutralize Stutzle, Tkachuk, and play their system.
The way we keep getting handled by the flyers makes me very scared to play LA. They have similar styles.
I’m just annoyed because it’s the first game I’ve been to this year and I bought the tickets in October. 😑
