I had an idea that they were going to be better. My surprise was The Washington Capitals, especially with Alex Ovechkin tapering on goals leader.

As a fan, I’ve been pleasantly surprised to watch this team. They are very fun to watch because they play the right way almost every night. I was initially upset that they were winning because I wanted to keep accumulating young high picks, but in reality, Torts is developing the young guys on the team now in the right way. So, as long as they don’t try to start winning by making dumb veteran adds, then I’m happy that they are winning and leaning to play the right way while still rebuilding for the long term
They’re proving everyone wrong but they should sell off at the deadline and if they lose first round so be it they need to worry about the future not a one off season.
Torts is a fucking magician, this team should really have no business being in the playoff picture but here we are. You can say what you want about the guy, but if his team buys into what he´s trying to do then you can count on them being competitive.
My Flyers should still trade the pending UFA´s at the deadline. I would love for them to make a run but keep in mind we started a rebuild only 6 months ago and traded away players for picks and took on cap dumps in return. The whole Giroux era felt like a never ending cycle of them rushing back to contention too quickly after retools and it always ended up doing down the drain. Patience is key here as much as I love how they are playing right now.
A healthy couturier is a godsend that hasn't happened since he was drafted… he obviously is the captain of the team…. but would be a massive trade asset for Philly
