Unfortunately Sammy is done, needs to be sent down/waived and we need to be thankful he’s on a one year deal. Brad won that negotiation, now he needs to get a goalie without overpaying. Bringing up Hildeby would be a mistake. He needs time in the ahl, you bring him up once he’s seasoned and isn’t being brought up to save a season. It’s too much pressure, leaf market or not. Honestly I don’t like the idea of Sammy taking starts away from him in the ahl but good luck moving him in a trade..
I prefer Keefe post Dubas. He holds players more accountable and isn’t being forced to walk back his words, but his time is running out as well. Best coaches are named Pat, gotta find another Burns or Quinn, RIP.
I’ve never understood that for how long that everyone has been saying the team needs to improve their defence almost every year, but it’s rare that no one rarely points out that the Leafs have not had an actual #1 starter since Belfour 18 years ago. 18 years! Some might point out Anderson but I never put him in the top tier goalies in the league imo. I don’t care what it takes, sell the farm for all I care. This team would be lights out with a star starting goalie. I like Woll and he may eventually become that guy, but we need one now while we have this core. Many teams have won a cup with average defence and a stud goalie. Thanks for attending my Ted Talk.
