  1. In my comments about the inability of the Leafs to win games to be played on consecutive calendar days Eastern Time, I mentioned only 1 win i’m such a game after last preseason. The Leafs’ 3–2–3–0 win-regulation loss-OT loss-shootout loss record May look impressive, but that’s because of points in each of the games the Leafs played at home to the Flames and Canucks and in the NYC metro area against the Isles and NYR (3–0–1–0). In the remaining games of such back-to-backs the Leafs have a not-so-good 0–2–2–0 record. Before the NHL 2024 All-Star Break the Leafs have 3 sets of games they’ll have to play that don’t have a calendar day between them and 6 (3 in March) after that but before the 2024 NHL postseason. That’s 18 games the Leafs have to play that don’t have a calendar day ET between them before what may very well be the end of the Leafs‘ current season.

  2. I’ve been saying it; stop back passing a million times and just dump and chase! At the very least that’s the last thing they’ll expect from you…

And sure enough, everytime there was a dump in tonight it led to a scoring chase, a few of the best ones actually. The leafs are better at winning those puck battles than they are at dangling through anyone. As good as the top 4 are, they’re all actually quite terrible at dangling through guys.

Obviously we don’t want Marner to totally change his play style; he is who he is and that’s valuable.

But go to a simple, hard work play when the dispydoodling isn’t quite working.

To me, it’s like this; dispydoodling spends morale whereas simple hard work plays build it.

You can build moral with a successful dipsydoodle, but only a bit. But if you mess it up, it saps a lot of morale.

And it’s the reverse for simple hard work plays like a dump and chase.

The trade off is that dump and chases are tougher on the body and you can’t be repeating it all game or you’ll burn out.

But the thing is that when you build moral properly, the game gets easier and the bounces go your way more often. Also, as your moral rises, that of the opponent falls. So it’s a compound effect.

When I see the dipsydoodling, I just see someone making another withdrawal from a dwindling account. And when they score, I’m almost dismayed because I know that it’s all on borrowed time.

People keep saying “oh come on their record is decent, we shouldn’t be so hard on them”, and that’s why stats people are stupid; no offence.

How many leads have they blown this season; all of them? The only games they seem to be able to win consistently are the ones where they start down by 2 goals..

They’re relying on pure genetic talent and it’s working, but when playoff time comes what really makes the difference is grit.

With other teams throwing their bodies in the line, what exists of leafs morale will crumble and the dipsydoodling won’t be nearly as effective.

TLDR; DUMP AND CHASE MR FANCY PANTS.

  3. The Leafs are imploding before their fans’ eyes, but in the end it won’t mean squat. You wanna know why ? Leaf fans are notorious bandwaggoners, they huff and puff when they are angry at the team, but the minute they put a winning streak together, all is forgotten and forgiven. That is until the next meltdown. Leaf fans are like Steelers and Packers fans, loyal to a fault, but blindly loyal. There’s a reason why the Leaf fanbase are the most despised among all other NHL fanbases, even though they haven’t been a threat to win the Stanley Cup since 1967 ! They can become extremely obnoxious and pompous the minute the team wins something. Then they get too cocky for their own good, and create bulletin board material for other teams and fanbases to rally around. Remember “ WE WANT FLORIDA “ ??

    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  4. Can we just scratch Keefe please? The silly decisions from him need to stop. Same old story this year again. Leafs need a solid system that gives them their identity. The big picture: Individual attempts aside here and there this Leafs team is a deflated soufflé of sorts 🫠
