Not really an experiment, he was our goalie for our series win last season. Just shat the bed dramatically this year

  2. patronmtl

So they relying fully on Martin jones now?

  3. I wonder how many more once-good goalies we will burn through before we start to take a look internally at why every goalie who comes to play in Toronto ends up this way.

  4. dibilnahuy

great. we can watch lift the cup with another franchise 2 years down the road

  5. Fluffy-Yak-2873

    So what’s your plan now?

AHL goalie? Traffic cone? Tutor shooter? Extra skater( not that you have any d-men anyways 😂)

  6. TuckerSP

Well, it was pretty expectable, but still really sad to see that.

  7. MoreBoost34

Really hoped he would turn it around but he has been brutal… still sad to see it end this way.

  8. ActionKestrel

I hear Oilers need a goalie… To blame for another first round exit.

  9. Decent_Brick1150

Slippy slappy Samsonov ? Check the briefcase…. Oh Samsonite. .

  10. Clydefrog0371

What? Granted, I don’t watch a lot of Maple leafs games. But the one i’ve seen him play against the bruins he was phenomenal.

  11. Envermans

Toronto is such a weird goalie team. Haven’t had a stand out goalie since Andersen? And that only lasted a few years.

Toronto could make a swing for Gibsons from Anaheim. Or one of the calgary flames goalies.

  12. Hawks should pick him up as a #2 – our #2 currently ain’t really even a #3

  13. Come on Davidson, pick him up!

Considering the success of Mrazek another let down Leafs goalie could work well.

  14. fdisfragameosoldiers

The goalie graveyard has claimed another victim

  15. Zealousideal_Abies94

Can I interest you in a Petr Mrazek?!

  16. Kinda sad. He really saved our ass last year more times than I can count and played very well in the playoffs. Hurts to see him not make a come back, was really rooting for him. All the best Sammy.

    Toronto Team Building Strategy:

    1. Build top heavy with garbage defense

    2. Acquire top tier goalie

    3. Leave goalie out to dry

    4. Goalie gets pelted

    5. Blame goalie, not defense

    6. Put goalie on waivers

    7. ????

    8. Repeat from Step 2.

  18. Famous-Riverr

At least leafs are not stuck with him longterm and didn’t sign Jack Campbell.

This year im noticing that all goalies are hurting for most teams.

  19. itsmnemotime

Go straight to khl, do not pass go, do not collect signing bonuses

  20. tottoroo10101

Way to go guys👏 Whats the excuse now gonna be? Just hate when people are thrown under the bus.

  21. Sweaty-Chemistry-141

Ah, that’s too bad. Goal is such a tough position mentally. Gotta think his arbitration convo over the summer played into his mental state this season, with this as the result.

  22. alexgardin

4 of the goals in the Columbus game were 1 or 2 on noone. Good job leafs. Blame the goalie again.

  23. whalecardio

Can we stop saying an “experiment has ended” when talking about players? They’re people, playing a game. Not variables in a controlled science lab.

  24. Mijo1988

Cant wait till he wins the Stanley cup with another team 😊

  25. TheCatEmpire2

Would be fun to see Samsonov jump to Edmonton and crush it. Goalie signings are such a crapshoot. Woll seems reliable when healthy for the Leafs

  26. Talktothebiceps

Not sure if we have the space but I’d love to see Colombus take him. Toronto is great at making good players play like shit with their toxic crap. I bet if someone gives him a chance he gets some mojo back.

  27. Apprehensive_Car_671

The last halfway decent goalie was Cujo and he never won a big series either.

  28. I wish it were different Sammy, I was really pulling for ya buddy. Good luck, I hope you stick in the big league after this

  29. topcorjor

So he’ll be a 5×5 Oiler next year I guess.

  30. jiveturkey46

It is kinda embarrassing that the Leafs can’t figure out the goalie situation for 7 or 8 years now. All the money in the world, and they couldn’t get « creative » enough to get a #1 guy😁

  31. He wasn’t performing but with the amount of breakaways we let happen, can you blame him for letting in so many goals?

  32. Weird_Priority_7987

Management is the problem and the lack of searching for D instead they choose to outshot every team It does not work in the playoffs !!! The problem is Shanahan he needs to go!!!

  33. Daxarooiawho

Really wanted to see him do well but I do understand the decision
