I didn't have the Oilers winning against either the Kings or Rangers, but they managed to beat those 2 teams on this road trip and end 2023 on a 5 game win streak. They are just 3 pts behind the Coyotes for the second wild card spot, 4 behind the Preds for the first wild card spot, and though it may be a stretch, 8 behind LA for 3rd in the Pacific.
Also, can't believe it's been a decade and a half since I last visited Sylvan Lake. My grandparents on my mom's side used to own a cabin over by Half Moon Bay (3km west, then 3 km north from Sylvan Lake), but while I was in high school it got too expensive for them to keep it since the town was continuing to grow into a small city, so they sold it.
Long post follows with base game statistics including some for the Anaheim Ducks. Read, don't read, up to you. These are BASE stats not detailed ones. Happy New Year all.
Statistics for Edmonton Oilers at Anaheim Ducks December 31st, 2023
This was a butt kicking. No way around that. The Oilers kicked the Ducks where they sit and kept doing it all night. Foegele with 2 Goals and 3 Assists, Leon with a Goal and 2 Assists, McLeod a goal and an assist, Kane with a Goal, Hyman with a Goal, Kulak with a Goal, contributions from the D (both Nurse and Bouchard got Assists plus Kulak's goal), some depth contributions (Brown got another secondary assist). Then it got nasty. The Oilers had 41 Penalty minutes and the Ducks had 31 Penalty Minutes. The difference was an extra game misconduct for Janmark. PP not working right now but PK sure is working (for the Ducks too). If anyone bet Foegele for 2 goals and 3 assists they must have cleaned up because I didn't see it coming. The second line contributed 10 points to last nights effort. They're killing it (and anyone who gets in their way). All in all, great game and high energy for the 2nd game of a back to back closing out our 2023 year with 3 wins on the road in Cali. Much, MUCH more reasonable Time on Ice too. No forward had more than McDavid's 19:11 and it drops off noticeably from there. Take care all.
