That’s the majority of systems I’d imagine, rebounds lead to high danger scoring chances.

Which makes sense. With our active D, if we try to pick a corner and miss.. They’re gone the other way. And we know we have troubles picking corners and going wide sometimes. Lots of lighter shots towards bouncy or kicky areas looking for tips and/or rebounds.

Or I’m just huffing a big ol can of copium

I notice that they don’t really set up anyone for good one-timer opportunities.

I think they have weapons in Lindholm, Sharangovich, Kadri, and even Mangiapane..
The system just doesn’t really open up those chances.

Low, odd angle shots are basically how Matthews gets about 5-10% of his goals. If the puck doesn’t go in, how well do you think a goalie can control a rebound when he’s not square? It’s such a great strategy that I’m amazed it isn’t used enough. Even professional goalies can’t decide on how to stick to the posts and thus leave the weirdest holes open. I’m not even gonna mention how the puck can rattle off of a defender, or how quick sticks can take advantage of loose pucks, or how you can quickly generate a jam scenario and generate an offensive zone draw, etc.
