I certainly think other teams are ASKING for him in trade duscussions. Idk if NJ is actively shopping him – but I also don't think it's necessarily a deal breaker for Fitz depending on the hypothetical returns. And like you pointed out, it's possible his new contract figure 'ask' is a factor.

Then there's the cloud (no pun intended) looming over him still from the HC report still being stifled. We'll see. On-ice he's been an important piece, but I'm not against moving him depending on the return. LGD

  2. Unpopular opinion, with the cap situation, I would almost rather the Devils look to trade Todfoli than Mcleod. I could see Todfolis next contract making it so we can’t keep Mercer or Mcleod so I’d rather have those two than just Toffoli. It would also give Holtz the room to actually play top 6 minutes consistently (although with Ruff who knows lol). Like you said, we don’t have anyone else in our system that does what he does as effectively. We have other shooters who can/should step up for Toffolis production though

  3. Certainly hope he stays but I am trying to get used to the idea that someone is going, probably someone valuable.

  4. Daws should have gotten the start in Boston. He earned it. V needed more rest and to tell you the truth Vitek would be better to trade so we don't have to have to give up much. I like to see what Cal Foote can do on D, our D is good at times but they are also to blame on giving goals when they make mistakes and and don't cover D zone near the net.

  5. Yes, let's trade away all consistent players who WANT to be a devil and who can actually play defense. Oh and also, who just so happens to be one of THE guys in the league being good at what almost all other centers on this team are bad at. Which is faceoffs. This would be a bad move.

  6. Keep McCloud!! Trade Meir, we have a plethora of players like him, he has a big contract, we could get a good return for him. McLoud is a good center man, a grinder and can play on all four lines, we need him

  7. I love Mikey, but u gotta break some eggs if u wanna bake, top faceoff guy, if hes going for a goalie i can see that, was upset he only took a 1 year deal when his buddy Nat took a 2 yr deal this summer.. Utica is sucking rn, so if take Clarke or Foote off them they’ll b destine to stay in last.. im for anything to get this team more consistent.. whether goalie or Defensive D-man.. in Fitz I trust…

  8. I can see both sides, I like what he adds on the ice and do think losing him would hurt the team at that position. However, there are some things that make me possibly in favor of it.
    1. If we are giving a larger non-core player, it usually means a bigger return. So a trade could pay off.
    2. You touched on it in the video, but contracts are a thing, and it could be exactly what you said, were he's pricing himself out; or it could be part of negotiations.
3 . Finally, I hate his, but his off ice asterisk is something to keep in mind. I know, innocent until proven guilty (as i do not think a verdict was ever reached), but that is unfortunately, as long an no verdict has officially been released, it could be a big issue in the future (depending on the results and if he is guilty).

  9. Tom Fitzgerald is an idiot, but everyone glorifies him. Meier gets that contract, and has done what? The defense sucks. Goaltending sucks. So is this conversation. Hell trade McLeod and Mercer to St. Louis for Binnington. Then I can be a Blues fan alone.

  10. I would hate to lose him, as he has been a consistent hard worker and one of the few guys who's out there playing a hard physical game every night. However, if the right trade offer was made that would ultimately make the team better, then it is what it is. He's a player who could actually help bring back an important piece that the Devils badly need so if the deal is the right one, then it will sadly be time to say goodbye to Mikey.

  11. I am sure trade talks have picked up, other teams would love to have the best face-off guy in the league. McCleod got a one year deal because of the uncertain nature of the Canadian under 18 scandal. Even with a raise to $2.2 he is a steal. The guy is a Sergei Brylan type that plays hard and does anything you ask every day. He isn't going anywhere.

  12. I wouldn’t let him go for the simple fact that he plays defense. Unlike some of the other players on this team. Plus he’s got the best percentage face off wins in the league.

  13. Really hope they do not trade McCleod. Great at faceoffs, hustles every game, a real heart and soul player.

  14. I think they denied this but it would make little sense. He has good speed, in addition to faceoff skill, at a good price. Speed is too important to this team, and he comes with size too. After replacing Tatar with Tofoli, losing Wood and getting Lazar, Boqvist gone and Holtz in, the offense’s speed dropped off some and we don’t have the same speed game across all lines. At least the defense is getting faster

  15. Watch him go because of capspace problem and again you all be praising that idiot Fitzgerald. That's all because of his stupid Meier signing!

  16. There's 2 things I want to say:

    1. Happy New Year!

    2. I hope the Devils do trade McCleod! I don't want him on the Devils! He's a rapist!

  17. They need him . They have no good defensemen that can play defense. The entire team is small and weak and if a cockroach farts in Asia , it will knock all our players off the puck. We need gm change , coach change , steroids and players who can play defense. Players who can stay healthy , we are not going anywhere for a long time .

  18. McLeod is on a one year cheap deal. He is obviously a very attractive piece for teams looking to shed salary while getting younger & cheaper.

If you move him…does Bastian go with him?

If I were Gm, I wouldnt move him.

Personally, I would be looking to dish Marino or Bahl for a real deal shutdown defenseman.
Vitek is all but a dead man walking at this point .

Need a defenseman and a goalie pronto.

    And let me ask you…..
Mcleod & Vitek for Gibson & Henrique. Thoughts?

  19. I would hate to loose McLeod . He checks so many boxes : hard worker , defensively responsible , high speed , phenomenal faceoff skills . Probably affordable too . I would rather see Palat go . Fitz should have kept Tatar for half the price .
