@Islanders de New York

1. Isles responded against caps big time. That 60 minute effort should have been a given after being humilaited on home ice by pens. The problem is lame after 4 seasons as ass't coach being a buddy to players can't be hard on them as head coach and these night and day games are the result of that.
    Then pens owned isles-again. 10-1 over two games. Now pens are getting hot and just three pts. behind isles with a game in hand. At least 58 didn't own isles this game. Now off to avs, az, and vgk. Playoff spot still not a given going into new year. Time to go get nye blasted-HAPPY NEW YEAR gil-all.

  2. They really needed to beat the pens tonight. The isles are keeping them in this thing the way they kept us in it last season. I just can't believe the inconsistency from night to night and now they're losing regulation games again. We all know the problem but Lou won't do it and Lame won't adjust to a defensive system.

  3. The lack of scoring from the top 2 lines the last few games is troubling. The first half of January's schedule looks like make or break for the Isles.

  4. This team cannot win without extreme effort and perfectly placed shots in the toy department. Watch all their goals. You don’t beat goalie low. Not in the NHL. You just can’t play that hard every game. Casey shouldn’t have played. He had nothing. If you are gonna keep your shifts short, what is the point? Good to have Mayfield back and maybe Pullock on the trip. Barzy had one good shift and they scored. Not sure if Martin should be starting anymore or Lee. They just don’t offer enough. Martin for the playoffs ok if they make it. Also The best goalie tandem in the league is now all on one goalies shoulders. Now they start a hellacious road trip with Colorado, Vancouver and Vegas and then Vegas again at home and they still haven’t played the Rangers and the Devils. Penns have game in hand. All cushion is gone. Also Lambert’s post game was too “well sometimes you play well and lose” what game is he watching? This team is this close to being out of the playoffs.

  5. Good morning team and Happy New Year! Gil, I love how you are always, well most of the time, looking for what the team did well. That's how I like to be as well. The were taking tons of shots. It just so happens, they ran into a goaltender that was on his game last night. I expect games like that to happen. I'm gearing up for the upcoming road trip the team has. Thank you for what you do. The best way to get rid of the bad taste of a loss is with a win. Let's give it to Colorado, Arizona & Vegas. We'll get this New Year started the right way. Have a great day. Talk to you all again tomorrow. Until then.. Let's Go Islanders!!

  6. Yup, deleted my last comment. I’m impressed with your breakdown and knowledge and at this point, I really shouldn’t be, good job man. I know I’m very much in the minority but Sorokin not getting the shutout hurt just as much as losing last night. The guy has been playing his blank off! As far as that deflected goal? Mayfield had his guy “boxed out” and was in perfect position, the forward made a great deflection between his legs. It had nothing to do with Mayfield or Sorokin. I don’t like cliché’
    but… sometimes “ya just have to tip your hat to your opponent for making a great play” and that’s exactly what that kid did. You can’t defend against a play like that, you can only hope your goalie gets lucky enough to have his pad in the right spot at that split second and that’s pure luck. 🍀
