I thought he was injured…I didn’t realize this was mental health related.

This is important to note. It’s one step in a long process. Hope he continues to move forward

I hope he comes through it and is a good NHL player
Good on the Flames for the support.

It’s a shame that something like this needs to be made public but that’s pro sports I guess. Good on the Flames management for supporting him in this way.

Mental illness is no joke, glad to hear he’s making progress!

I have a ton of respect for anyone who has to navigate an illness of any type that impacts their quality of life. Oliver is a hockey player but he’s also a son, a friend, he has interests and a life outside hockey that will continue after hockey. The willingness to move through this process whatever it is, and to keep trying to achieve his goals is admirable and I’m here for it.

Oilers fan coming in peace.
This popped up on my front page. What happened with him?

Soooo Oliver is the missing piece needed to fix everything? Cool.

Regardless if Oliver plays with the Flames again this season or not, I’m so proud of the organization and leadership for how they talk about Mental Illnesses.

To anyone saying that this shouldn’t be made public, I ask “why not?”
Why shouldn’t it be public? A battle with cancer or any other disease is often shared so people can lend their support. Why should mental illness be any different? There should be no stigma surrounding mental illness.
I had a nervous breakdown last year and had to take a leave. I was very open about my situation and I benefitted greatly from the support of my community.
