@Flames de Calgary

1. I love this, taking mental health break is something that is over looked in professional sports. I am glad to be a fan of a sport that takes mental health seriously. Thank You to the Calgary Flames for making it seen. Good luck Oliver!

  2. I was really happy to see him going to the Wranglers, what a big step. And I have to say I'm really proud of how Calgary has treated him throughout his time away. That is how you handle a player who's (physical or mental) health is suffering. You let them heal.

  3. All the best to him in his efforts. Can't say that I've ever heard of him before: Is that really how you pronounce his name? – It sure doesn't seem correct based on the spelling. 🤔

  4. Let’s not start celebrating yet.
We don’t know what has to be done, nor how far he really is.
I wish him well, but let’s not make this into a time table that puts him in a situation he can’t handle.
    I’m very cautiously optimistic.
And Johnny I hear this from your video as well. 🙂

  5. Just want to say thank you for this vid, agree 100% to everything you said and loved the deliery of it just as much. Best of luck to Oliver and everyone in the league and our greater hockey fans community going through a similar struggle, my hope is one day everyone can get the same quality of support as what the Flames organization have made the extra effort to provide to him. Not a fan of that team by any means but on this they've been nothing short of amazing, this is winning much more than a Stanley Cup in my book.

  6. I’m glad the flames took route of making sure he’s ok before even stepping onto the ice. Even though he’s a UFA, I’m glad an organization ensures his well being first, I hope he remembers and signs a friendly one year as the last season he played for the flames he did awesome…

  7. Great story thanks JH. Considering the archaic, profit before people mentality the NHL establishment demonstrates from above, this is refreshing. The NHL and many of it's teams have miles to go. Sad, really. The NHL could be a beacon of hope and a leader in social reform. Instead they lag behind and reinforce the code. Like Yaos shameful defense Hartman's stick to the face of Perfetti the other night – and his shades of mysogyny with Jennifer Botterill – what a piece. Way to sell the game you ass.

  8. Oliver was amazing defense man when we left but so happy he’s out skating with the wranglers so good to see him back his mental health comes first though with out a doubt

  9. Good news. I hope he’s feeling better and can suit up and play for the Flames.
We’re rooting for you across the NHL. All the best.

  10. As a Flames fan, i'm so happy to Kylington back after worrying if he was going to be ok. Hope he makes it back to the NHL.

  11. I love this story, thanks for putting it out. One of my hockey hero's is Ron Ellis who documented his battle with Clinical Depression back in '86. His book "Over The Boards" written in 2002 details his struggle. Somebody go by Oliver a copy just to prove to him that he's not alone. Ellis played over a 1000 games for the Leafs, won a Cup in '67 and was a stalwart in the 1972 Team Canada win over the CCCP playing on a line with Bobby Clarke and Paul Henderson. Go Oliver Go!

  12. When he finally returns to the Dome, we need to give him a standing ovation so that he knows Calgary supports him! We stand with Oliver! Go Flames Go!!

  13. I was so happy to see this news today. Kyl managed (imo) to be the most impressive player in the 21-22 miracle season. Warms my heart to see that he is doing much better, and a return to play is on the road map!

  14. What a cushy job to be able to take a year off for mental health, what is he doing at the spa getting his nails done?

  15. Man I love how you cover stories around the nhl. Flames fan here so it's a special thing to hear. Really hope for the best for him.
