  1. I feel like every time Petry is on the ice the other team scores! Isn’t his title Defenseman? Going to the Wings vs Flyer’s game on the 25th 3 rows up from the ice. Looking forward to watching Kane work. His passing and creativity is elite!

  2. Raymond had the game winner in LA not Kane. I am rooting for Kane to amass huge point totals over the next couple months so that we can trade him for a 2nd round pick. The team has now won one game this season when scoring less than 4 goals. Need the entire team to improve coverage in the defensive zone and Kane who has a leadership role does not play defense. Look at the elite teams in the NHL and show me their Kane type player.

  3. The LA game when they went down 2-0 i said to my wife "if we go down 3-0 or its still 2-0 by the end of the second I'm going to bed". then they tied it 2-2 late in the second i had to stay up. was so tired and OFCOURSE it goes all the way to a shootout. such a late game lol

Edit: was worth watching that win tho

  4. I think up front things are looking good with more talent on the way.
My concerns are on the back end like you mentioned.
The odd man rushes, the shorthanded goals, the bad positioning, the inabillity to maintain (big) leads…
This combined with shaky goaltending is costing a lot of points unfortunately. Thank god Lyon is stepping up big in this regard or we would again be out of contention.

I get the statement that at all times, every team can beat the other. But if you want to be a playoff team, you can still be struggling against teams like the Leafs, Bruins, Panthers, Rangers, Dallas but not drop points against teams like Sharks, Ducks, Minnesota, Ottawa, Canadiens.
That was last years Red Wings, this roster should be better than that.

  5. I think that the PWHL is Sick. I think that it is long overdue, and I think it’s cool to finally see the best women in the world compete in a league together.

  6. I'm hoping for a Kane extension as he would be extremely valuable as we improve season to season. They will need to play at least .750 this month to firmly reestablish the playoff hopes this months. They need to not have a meltdown after this month as well playing at .600-.650… Other than the early Ducks goal, it was their best complete game in a long while.

  7. If Kane wants to stay, you sign him to an extension. Simple as that.

If you get a player his caliber, and hall of fame lock, you keep him around as long as him being effective.

3 years deal will be a good contract.

  8. Kane has far exceeded my expectations! I looked at it from a business standpoint, and said hey we’re paying him as a 3rd line guy, he only makes .75 more than sprong and no one is expecting sprong to be a “star”

  9. December wasn't a great month for the Wings for several reasons: the Larkin injury, the Perron suspension and the Kane meshing. Now that period is over I'm confident they get back to the more consistent winning we saw in October and November. They're tied for 8th in the East with several months to go, I'm still confident they make the playoffs. Now if we could just get some more help on the blue line before the trade deadline that would be marvelous.

  10. Honestly, I'm with you on this. When I first heard about the PWHL and could careless til I saw the hitting highlights and it peaked my interest and Ive watched every game so far. You can tell these woman are skilled but not used to the physical side of things because well, they weren't trained that way. This league is the start of something new and in 10 years this league will be way different, bigger players, more physical, better balance mainly due to bigger investments in programs. What seperates the mens league and woman's is just that, investment. A lot of money is funded in the lower leagues from the top down as far as science and nutrition to get the best of the best for the NHL. The last few games there's been 100k views on each video. That's a sustainable number for 6 teams for the time being if it's constant throughout the season as it'll more than likely draw more sponsors and interest from little girls. The more demand for something, the more investment. Call Arizona coyotes what you will but if it wasn't for that team, you wouldn't have Austin Matthews. It's about growing the game for the next generation. I'm honestly entertained by it mainly do to the physical aspects of it and I can see it growing in regards to that with better training and development in the underbelly of the sport. That part alone will draw in a bigger fanbase.

  11. Great expectations usually end up being big disappointments the keys to set your goals low then try to over achieve
much easier to play consistently when you’re not carrying the weight of the team on your shoulders

  12. Wings need to play their way into giving yzer the green light to use some resources to plug some holes imo. Im not sure well get the big name d man or goalie. But something 😂

  13. Im looking forward to the PWHL, if nothing more to serve as another case study of woman in professional sports. Woman's hockey now has the opportunity to reach its full potential if it's supported and I hope it does. Look at woman's UFC, those chicks are badass and you can see the success and empowerment woman can achieve in sports with the right amount of support and thats just great for not only the athletes and fans but the human race in general. Who wouldnt want that, right? This however doesnt mean we will ever see woman fight against men in the UFC (albeit the occasional psycho trans who loves beating the shit out of woman) nor play in the NHL. I hope this very popular opinion isnt portrayed as being a cock when voiced in chats and comments all over the world with regularity. You made a great comparison between Gordie Howe and todays mens leaguer in comparison to the potential evolution of womans hockey. Fair I too share your optimism. I just hope people dont get confused by this and in the process set themselves up for disapointment thinking the WPHL could provide the proper scenerio for woman to evolve to NHL level ability (albeit goalies…….sorry goalies). The type of evolution this would require is one in which would compensate for sex differences such as, but not limited to men having a larger heart, greater lung capacity, greater muscle mass, more red blood cells, and less body fat, all of which give men performance advantages over woman. Like i said, i hope this "opinion" isnt viewed as dickish, it's just science. And to prove i'm not a dick im not going to end this comment with "BOOM!!!". See, not a duck. Good day, sirs.

  14. I was at the sharks wings game rooting for the wings, firstly lots of red wings fans there. But it was close up until the end of the third where the redwings scored a 4-3 goal then a 5-3 on an empty net. It wasn’t a horrible game but some sloppy defense and I was very on edge at points because we gave up some chances we shouldn’t have given up.

  15. Kane has proven himself here and feel that he will want to stay because of the upside that is here. If we can get the D to tighten up and they keep winning, I believe he will resign here. Next year, he gets the 35+ contract where they add a lot of incentives, so I can see the 3 years easily with those.

  16. I wouldn’t be upset if yzerman was able to get a great package for Kane and/or ghost coming up to the trade deadline. I don’t feel like this team is strong enough to be a good playoff team, not this season at least, bank on the next 2-3 when we are a real force with all of our prospects developing.

  17. I don’t think Kane would have gotten a chance to play as a top 6 forward on a contender prior to this to be honest. I think most contenders would have had him play mid 6.

But I think more contenders will look at him with a little less caution now after seeing him have some pretty solid production with a team that’s close to finishing a rebuild.

  18. I agree about Lyon/Husso, Husso is going to have to compete for #1 again now, which is a good thing. Motivation for each goalie.

  19. Ideally, Cossa and Augustine both end up being hits and we end up in a Boston type situation with a super solid tandem in the next few years. In the meantime, Husso and Lyon can hopefully hold down the fort

  20. i think Kane very much intended/wanted to make Detroit his last stop in his career. however w what Lalonde has done to him and Cat the last 5 games, taking Larkin away, ruining their ability to perform offensively, even now taking Larkin away on the power play from them – i would not be surprised if he leaves even way ahead of the deadline. this guy is chasing historical numbers (500 goals, US points record) and his next/last contract on a hip that who knows how long it'll last. he now has 1 pt in his last 4 games bc of Lalonde's lineups. he does not have time to waste like that.
