The Ducks 2nd round pick is an almost 1st round pick, somewhere between #34 and #40. That ain't a throw in, that's a real live chess piece. This one's a saw-off.

If cutter is as good as projected, one for one deal for Mintyukov would’ve been a just return. Drysdale was Mintyukov a few years ago but at this moment I don’t know if he returns to that form. It was a lose lose for flyers and they definitely lost

Solid sniper prospect but not Michkov level. Drysdale is a very good return for someone who wasn’t going to sign here, don’t need that character. Plus flyers need more puck moving D. Add a 2nd rounder and it’s a win/win. Doesn’t set back the rebuild. Said wanted to be a flyer.. couple months later says he doesn’t want to be apart of this organization. Didn’t answer the teams calls and refusing to meet with them just shows what type of character this guy has. If you don’t want to be a part of Philly, get the fuck out. See ya!
Flyer fans on a local Philadelphia podcast are trashing Cutter for not wanting to join their team. They seem really angry and insulted about it. The Flyer organization did an excellent job of pivoting and getting a quality player back for him.
Regardless of how this shakes out, Briere did the right thing by selling Cutter at his peak trade value, if he knew the kid didn’t want to be in the building.
Flyers made out well given the situation. I love Danny’s transparency. He doesn’t hide anything like Crap Fletcher did.

Honestly a great trade for both teams. Some risk but big upside for both players. Plus based on prospect pools it’s what both teams need
I have a feeling this trade will age like fine wine. Both players are young with lots of potential, we might not know who won this trade for another 6 years.

The reaction to the trade announcement in the Sportsnet intermission segment was so odd. To me and to us, it was a stunning development, but the panel just kind of went 'well, that just happened, moving on'

I actually like this trade for the Flyers, especially if the rest of the league knew they were dealing from a position of weakness. At the end of the day this trade is made possible by the fact that the Flyers have 2 first round picks next year, in a draft with a ton of defensemen. My guess is that the first of those two picks goes to a Dman, the second on a forward, unless of course they don't use both to move up swinging for a homerun.
It was telling of how much strain there must have been in all of this, that Briere was as forth right as he was in his media availability today. Almost to the point of being unprofessional. But my favorite part was when Danny said "We got a RHD for a LW" Wonderfully suggesting what he thinks of Cutter's chances of being a center in this league.
From there the hope is for lines to sometime soon resemble Sanheim/ Drysdale– Risto/ York– Zamaula/ Walker(or some variation thereof, the important part being the retention of Sean Walker) and then see if you can't get a 2nd/3rd rounder for Seeler at the deadline, along with a similar such return for Frost, and perhaps even a bag of pucks for Cam Atkinson and his bargain of a contract, ample portions understandably retained.
Cutter Gauthier was never meant to be a Flyer, he's far too pretty for that, and he and his agent knew it.
His, oh so smooth skating, and occasional defensive backcheck was presumably going to be better suited to the Pacific division.
He was always a duck.
That said, the thought of him and Leo on the same line sends shivers.

During that draft I wanted Matthew Savoie but the Flyers took this kid instead. This team needs scoring so they get another defenseman in return. Potential sniper for a mucker and grinder. Danny Briere, new boss same as the old boss. This team will never win another Cup until they decide to move on from the 70's.
This all could have been avoided if Chuck Fletcher didn't have rocks in that Harvard educated brain of his, and had taken David Jiricek with the 5th overall pick, as the universe had presented and intended.
