  1. Worst Team Building Plan in NHL Salary Cap Era.
Big Salary + All Non Mouvement = Definition of All in into a no Playoff Result players.
Tell me you don't want to win a cup without telling me you don't want to win a cup.

  2. It’s not that other teams can’t offer these contracts it’s that other teams are trying to build a full team not have 4 players take up almost if not more than 50% of the cap. Toronto once again will have to keep signing scrubs that barely contribute to the team. Cap might go up but that also means players will ask more too since the cap is going up. So the cap going up really isnt helping them.

  3. Do signing bonuses count against the cap ? Is it really just the shock of getting all the money at once ? Is there a benefit ? (Yes I’m that stupid )

  4. so what happens is teams stacked with 5-7 million dollar forawrds at 15-20 goals and 4-5 million dollar defencemen win cups. The leafs blueprint is wrong. You watch LA this playoffs. Trevor Moore has 17 goals at 4.5 million for 4 years. Nylander has 21. that's a FOUR goal difference for an extra 6+ million (next year) The cap era is about value for money. The Leafs are now getting the SAME production out of AM and WN for an extra 7 million, the cap raise next year. The model is broken and the organisation are happy to pay stars to keep foolish fanboys happy.

  5. Would be really cool if we can get more videos on like these on the current contracts for these franchises amongst the top roster players or random players and get predictions on potential changes to them

  6. the Leafs are up against the cap for the next 8 years. How do you build up the roster, what will happen to the first round picks if they wish to extend? Oh well, Nylander locked up is a great thing for the Leaf faithful.

  7. Nylander has gotten better each & every year, hitting 80 pts 2 yrs ago, 87 pts with 40 goals last year & this year, so far another step up. Is it an overpay? Yep, but he'd get more as a UFA assuming his production stays close to what he's done in the first 37 games. He is a game breaker on offence & seems to be able to score in the post-season & he's improved his inadequate defensive game to the point that he now gets time on the PK. He claims to love Toronto & repeatedly said he didn't want to go anywhere else. The Leafs could have had him at 10.5M aav had they moved on him prior to the season, but they didn't & now they're paying a million more.

They're one of the wealthiest teams in the NHL so why not keep your own home-grown draft pick. Tavares has one year left at 11M then that's off the books, so 25/26 will be more comfortable in terms of salary acrobatics. Can you win with 3 guys making 36M? Some say no, based on six 1st round failures until 2023, but I think it's more likely because of a constant lack of clutch 'money' goaltending that Andersen & Campbell failed to provide in game 7's repeatedly. The series win over Tampa last spring was Samsonov being better than Vasilevskiy. Then they ran into Bobrovsky, who morphed into 'Vezina Bob' game 5 vs Boston while down 3-1. Clutch goaltending matters beyond anything else.

  8. It seems like you were implying that these players are overpaid. Look at how much money the owners are getting.

  9. With this signing, we say bye to Marner. I think Nylander's a better player than Marner, not a better passer or defender, but better in the playoffs, better mental ,and better in a more general sense. But if we give Marner a huge double digit contract, I'm changing fan bases because the closest we come to the cup is if a player on another team that wins the cup is from Toronto.

  10. if the potential bidding war for Nylander was gonna end around 12M, idk how the leafs would lose that. Leafs would have to match at 10.5. Not sure why mgmt thought this was a good idea.

  11. Don't forget that comparable players on other teams will now want near this so it handcuffs other teams as well and those other teams never planned for it, the Leafs have a plan. The cap will be about $100 million in 4 years or so, just enough time to get solid D, and Woll and Hildabeast will both be in their prime. Everyone needs to stop with the short-sightedness, it takes time to get everything put together and the right players available at the right time. Locking up the core is magnificent, now they can focus on the D for the next few seasons while the goalies I mentioned are gaining experience and becoming elite. GO LEAFS GO

  12. The regular season is 82 games. The officiating changes in the playoffs but the teams don't. I would rather enjoy the 82 with this core group that ever worrying about playoffs.

  13. So only the base salaries count against the cap? the bonuses do not is that correct? is there cap to these bonuses? the league allows it?😊

  14. Worst contract in the nhl. 1 good fluke year pay him on it haha joke. Should have traded him for a goalie. This year he will be good. Next 2 seasons 65 pts. Then you will buy this trash for remainder. Everyone should be fired for that signing.

  15. Toronto can't afford to get any more players, so these guys had better STEP IT UP! ABSOLUTELY STUPID MONEY! I STILL DON'T SEE THIS HELPING THE LEAFES!

  16. Love Nylander, and he's my favorite player, but he's nowhere near $11.5M/year lol
I thought he lived up to the $7M/year contract he had before.

  17. The Leafs are going to be fun to watch in the off-season. I don't see how they put together a decent team for next season with so much money tied-up in five guys and so many spots on the roster that will need to be filled.
