Very much so.

I would’ve been fine trading for Dubois, but not at the price the Kings paid to get him
Bohmer
We might’ve dodge a bullet. But he would’ve a harder time doing this shit over here.
XBM04
I’m very glad we didn’t make that trade or sign him. I don’t know how he got north of 8 million but he was a 7 mil guy at best to me
slafyousilly
Is it possible that Kent even played the Kings making them overpay?
MetalFungus420
Try and grab Zegras 😁
backwardzhatz
Definitely, although I’m fairly certain he’ll find his game again. He’s always been a streaky player. Still, at the time there were people saying we should offer Suzuki + more for him which I thought was absolutely bonkers.
Osky1965
Absolutely
LeCharb
I was never interested in the dude to begin with. He’s been an issue with his team since the beginning of his career
logictable
Huge bullet dodged. Questionable work ethic and he isn’t flashy… we wouldn’t be getting much entertainment value from him. At like $6M I could see him being an important part of a good team.
Scabondari
Could we still get him with salary retained?
HonestDespot
I’ve said for a while I wanted nothing to do with that floating quitter.
GeistHunt
Hughes should have slammed the phone down when the Jets said they wanted Suzuki. That’s when I realized he wasn’t worth it.

I was waiting for him to come to MTL as a UFA. Hopefully he would play better in his home province!
W4ingro1995
I mean, the Jets are much better off without him
UskBC
Soooo overrated.
Mah0ngsh
Bad attitude floater.
In JG/KH we trust.
90s-kid-nostalgia
I was glad we didn’t do it at the time and I’m even happier that we didn’t now.
Le8ronJames
I would have liked Dubois but not at that price and certainly not for that contract.
BrandonPHX
Yes, he is getting paid way too much for a dude that’s never scored 30 goals.
He’s a 25 goal scorer getting paid like a 40 goal scorer. I never understood why people wanted to overpay for him other than his name.
GreatWhiteNorth4
Yes and I never wanted him to begin with. The price required to get him in a trade was far too steep considering we weren’t even a playoff team, let alone a cup contender.
I don’t think he’s as good as some of our fans seemed to believe, not a bad player by any means, but he’s not a superstar either. He’s also still a massive red flag in the character department as far as I’m concerned.
I know the fans would love a French Canadian star/superstar but we can’t just will it into existence either lol (whether that be acquiring one or just hoping the player is better than they actually are)
Dismal-Scheme-5726
Holy fuck yeah. LA can deal with him for the next decade.
eriverside
I was very interested in him coming over as a UFA and signing him to the same Suzuki/CC deal. Trading for him was not very interesting because we were rebuilding so we’d be giving up younger cost controlled assets – that didn’t make sense.
He’s slumping on his first season with his 3rd team but put up numbers previously. No reason to believe he won’t get back into shape sooner or later.
Would I trade a 7th rounder for him today? Yes. Not more than that because we shouldn’t be in the business of bailing out other GMs.
JUNGLE_HABITAT
Absolutely yes but I also wasn’t convinced on him coming here in the first place. As a free agent I would have been happy but not at the cost and contract he got from LA. I understand you have to pay more for veterans and possible potential but he hasn’t delivered.
CreateorWither
Yep, didn’t want him at the time, really don’t want him now.
G_skins31
I was pushing hard for that one to happen! Guess I’m not always right 😅
