It's a good long-term move. This only adds to an already decent defensive core, especially Sanheim and York (who continues to impress with his play). And we still have some good talent coming up the pipeline, like Matvei Michkov, – this guy's a BEAST! Yes, we're a demanding fanbase, but I feel we're fair (most of the time). My guess is that Cutter is going to regret this decision.

I'm not surprised he didn't want to play for the bully Torts after his comments about him after the trade. Yup, I've never heard any players say anything bad about Coach Fonzarelli. lol Maybe Cutter got word about him from Brandon Dubinski and the many others who literally hate Tortorella and said no way.
You got a coach who doesn't respect the players and treats them like cattle, so you know there'll be players who won't want to play for him (some obviously before they even get there). Eventually what good he can bring to the team in terms of results will dissipate into a mutiny when his antics and personality gets unbearable, like it has with every team he's coached. I'm surprised that the Flyers and fans are surprised that's it's already starting to show. Just stick around folks, it gets even better. I give it 1/2 to 2 more seasons. That's when the Flyers will be good, when the bully leaves the locker room, the dread and weight has been lifted, and hockey is fun to play again. What, you think a coach who rolls his eyes every time a player does something like accidentally shoot a puck over the glass is all candy canes and rainbows to play for?

As a Ducks fan, I think this is a mistake. JD6 is a skating prodigy who just signed a team-friendly contract; he was exchanged for an ostensibly non-team-friendly player. Bob Murray (hiccup) strikes again!
Gauthier is good friends with Kevin Hayes. Hayes probably told him Torts was mean to him and made him play defense. Good riddance to both of them. We received a good defensive prospect that can step right into the lineup.

When you pick someone at 5th and they tell you they are ready for the show, usually they are ready for the show. I understand there’s a whole team behind the decision of a player going pro, but clearly he’s able to produce as he just has 12 points (tied for the tourneys most) in a world junior tourney playing a key role in USA taking gold.
